Destiny 2 finally got some long-anticipated new content with the release of Iron Banner, which brought Micromort as a bonus addition. This Arc-aligned rocket launcher is one of the few weapons in its class adapted to the tier system, so with some luck, you can get it with triple perks.
Meta rocket launchers usually stick close to a tried-and-true formula—and good news, that’s exactly what a god-rolled Micromort provides. It also has an enviable amount of elemental synergy, though on arguably the least favorable weapon type for them.
While Micromort’s Precision Frame deals less damage than its competitors (to offset its built-in tracking), the best options available are pretty strong in their own right, making it a comfortable rocket launcher to use in the absence of strong competitors like Hezen Vengeance. Here are our Micromort PvE god rolls in Destiny 2, based on perk data from light.gg.
Micromort PvE god rolls in Destiny 2
- Launcher: Quick Launch
- Mag: Impact Casing, High-Velocity Rounds, or Alloy Casing
- First perk: Envious Arsenal
- Honorable mentions: Cluster Bomb, Clown Cartridge, Impulse Amplifier, or Reconstruction
- Second perk: Bait and Switch or Bipod
- Honorable mentions: Chain Reaction or Paracausal Affinity
Micromort god roll: Third column
There’s a narrow list of what you want on a rocket launcher for boss damage, and Micromort has the gold standard in the current sandbox: Envious Arsenal paired with Bait and Switch. It’s a devastating, synergistic combination that bypasses one of rocket launchers’ biggest weaknesses (their reload speed) while boosting the category’s strong damage numbers.
That said, Micromort’s fourth column has a slew of different options that also work well depending on what you’d like to get out of this rocket launcher. Cluster Bomb brings some extra damage, especially if you’re running Alloy Casing or High-Velocity Rounds as your magazine option. Faster-reloading magazines also make Clown Cartridge an excellent choice, since you’re guaranteed to get at least two rounds per reload without needing to swap weapons.
Impulse Amplifier and Reconstruction are still good choices on their own, but they need a little juice to compete with the top choices here. Neither the nerfed Field Prep nor Lead From Light is worth getting unless in truly specific scenarios, such as using Bipod and a double-special loadout.
Micromort god roll: Fourth column
If you’re going for the best of the best, Bait and Switch is heads and shoulders ahead of the rest of the competition for pure boss damage scenarios, and that’s easily the must-have perk on our god roll list.
Micromort’s fourth column would be filled with great contenders on a primary weapon, but for a rocket launcher, you can safely ditch most of the elemental synergies. This basically leaves Bipod as a general-use choice, bringing the launcher a tad closer to add-clear or orange-bar duty. Bipod gets you more rockets both in your mag and reserves, though that comes with a damage penalty.
Paracausal Affinity and Binary Orbit are slightly different from your usual on-kill perks: they activate even if your weapon is stowed, but they sit at an awkward middle ground between damage and utility. They’re good if you need to take down a Champion or miniboss, such as in a Grandmaster Vanguard Alert or Pinnacle Ops, but they’re not as useful if you’re going up against boss phases without adds.
Lastly, cross Voltshot and Rolling Storm off your list. Instead of relying on a rocket launcher for elemental synergy, it’s best to save that for something that doesn’t use purple ammo.
How to get Micromort in Destiny 2
Micromort is temporarily available as a reward during Iron Banner between April 14 and 21, though it’s extremely likely to return in a future issue of Call to Arms. The game lists its source as “events,” and the API shows multiple Holofoil variants, so it’s safe to assume it’ll come back at some point. It also boasts the Nail, Meet Hammer origin trait, present in other event weapons such as King Orfeo and The Heron from Arms Week.
