How to fix error BN-564 in Overwatch

Overwatch has rebranded, ditching the “2” and returning to its roots. This title-changing update brought along a ton of other much-needed improvements and additions, urging players to come back and see what’s new.

But as they started coming back in droves, so did the servers start to suffer. Specifically, it seems the Steam version of the game was hit the hardest, with players stuck in queues only to be met with “Error BN-564” once they got to first place.

If you’re one of many suffering from this issue, here’s what you can do to fix it.

This particular error seems to happen primarily to Steam players who were stuck in the queue and then sent back to the end once they were supposed to get into the game. As many have been met with this issue, many purported fixes have been proposed, though two stand out the most:

• Play the game through Battle.net instead: As Steam users are the most affected, then uninstalling that version and hopping onto Blizzard’s own Battle.net platform could be the best course of action. If you have high-speed internet, simply switch to Blizzard’s home turf and enjoy the game without any issue. It could still happen over there theoretically, but the rate at which it affects Battle.net users compared to those on Steam seems a ton lower.
• Edit Steam’s launch options: Another fix is to force the game to skip the queue altogether by editing Overwatch‘s launch options on Steam. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Right-click on Overwatch in your Steam library. Under the “General” tab, you’ll find a text box for “Launch Options.”
  • In that text box, paste in the following: “–BNetServer=kr.actual.battle.net:1119” without the quotation marks. This reconnects you to an alternative Battle.net server that avoids the queue and thus the error code above.

If these two fixes don’t work, then the error could be related to your own machine or internet connection. Troubleshooting your router, testing out other games, contacting your ISP, or, finally, contacting Blizzard itself are what you should do in that case. Of course, there’s the restart and reinstallation process that you can perform as well, which more often than not will prove fruitful.

In any case, the fixes above seem to work for the majority of players, and should be the way to go for you as well.

Ready to toe the line between good and evil? Warlocks are invading Diablo for its 30th anniversary, beginning today, and leading to BlizzCon later this year.

As part of today’s 30th anniversary spotlight, Blizzard revealed that Diablo 2: Reign of the Warlock is a new expansion for Diablo 2: Resurrected, and it’s available right now. But it doesn’t end there, because the Warlock class is also coming to Diablo Immortal later this year. And of course, it will be the second new class in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred in April, joining the already-available Paladin.

The update for the Diablo 2 remaster is packed with quality of life updates, as is Immortal’s (coming in June), but Diablo 4’s big upcoming expansion is where the bulk of the eyes are. And Blizzard says the new DLC has been built on what it’s learned over the past few years since D4 launched, including the new class.

Diablo 4’s Warlock is “fully unleashed,” with powers of metal chains and flames, and Blizzard called it “a heavy metal album come to life” during the stream. The dev team will deep dive on the new class on March 5, detailing its abilities, powers, and gear.

Lord of Hatred’s new zone, Skovos (the birthplace of humanity), was revealed during the stream, and it’s heavily inspired by Mediterranean landscapes, featuring “more monster variety than ever,” and a big change from the last DLC’s swampy region.

Blizzard also said Lord of Hatred’s system updates will change the game, including a “completely overhauled, massively expanded” skill tree, offering more customization from the beginning. They said that “meaningful choices,” including customization options are coming, and they’re coming to all classes regardless of whether players own the DLC or not.

Other changes coming to Lord of Hatred are loot filters, a new Talisman system, and more to be revealed. Needless to say, it sounds like the Diablo team is cooking up some fun stuff for the franchise’s big birthday this year.
