How to complete Paradigm Shift 2 contract in Marathon – Download Protocol G access in Complex

The Paradigm Shift 2 contract is a priority task for the NuCaloric faction in Marathon, and it involves downloading two pieces of intel in the Dire Marsh map.

It’s one of the more complex contracts to complete, and more so because both tasks have to be finished in the same run. Thankfully, both tasks are of an identical nature, so let’s look at how to finish the contract on your run.

Marathon Paradigm Shift 2 contract walkthrough

The Paradigm Shift 2 contract can be broken down into two parts.

• Download Protocol G access from secured room in Complex.
• Download quarantine protocol from southern Quarantine
• Exfil

How to download Protocol G access from secured room in Complex

For the first task, head to the eastern area of the Dire Marsh map where you’ll find the Complex POI. You’ll need to find the yellow-colored room with “PLX-3” written on top of it. The main door on the ground floor will be locked.

Use the nearby containers and jump onto the first-floor entrance. Avoid the lasers, use the stairs and come down to the room on the ground floor. Once the hack is complete, you’ll find that the doors are locked. You’ll also find boxes near the door: destroy the boxes, and you’ll be able to escape the location and complete the first task.

There are two boxes: one in the same room and one on the stairs above. If you can’t find them, you can wait for three minutes, and you’ll be able to escape.

How to download quarantine protocol from southern Quarantine

The second part of the contract involves traveling to a building located on the outskirts of Quarantine. I have marked the exact location; if you’re at the location, you’ll find a quest marker showing where you can find the terminal.

Once you’ve completed the hack, you’ll find a keypad near the terminal itself. Interact with it to unlock the nearby exit door. Alternatively, you can just wait for three minutes before the doors open. Thankfully, there are no enemy spawns, but you can come across runners.

Typically, an exfil spawns near this location that will allow you to escape from the map. The exfil part is necessary to complete the second Paradigm Shift contract, so don’t die after hacking both terminals.

To fish in Crimson Desert, you’ll need a rod. You can also get better rods once you spend more hours on your adventure. But first, let’s look at the basics, which start with obtaining your first fishing rod.

How to get a fishing rod in Crimson Desert

Once you’ve cleared the first few pieces of content that basically act as an extended tutorial, you need to find a fishing village. Fishing villages are shown as boats on the map. If you’re wondering how the villages look on the map, refer to the image below. You can find several of them spread all around the map.

You’ll find a fishing vendor at a fishing village. You can obtain a fishing rod from them. Once you have your first rod, you can start to fish. Do note that not all fishing vendors might be selling the rod. If you don’t find it at one vendor, try out another, and you should come across the rod.

How to fish in Crimson Desert

This is the easier part. Once you’ve found your rod, head to a water body. Make sure that your fishing rod is equipped. Next, you have to cast the line. Be careful not to cast it over any debris. Wait for a few seconds for a fish to catch the lure.

Typically, you’ll hear three splashes before the fish bites the lure. Once it bites, press the hook button to catch the fish. But first, you’ll have to tire out the fish. If the fish goes left, use the LS button to move the rod right. If it’s moving right, then use the LS button to take your rod to the left. Then, press the reel-in button to catch the fish. Only try to reel in the fish after it has tired out.

You can also get better rods like the Fine Fishing Rod from the Greymane camp, which an NPC sells. Having better rods will allow you to get better catches, and some of them will be a great way to earn money.
