Capcom’s Pragmata debuts to overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam: ‘Most fun I’ve had in a AAA in forever’

Diana in Pragmata

As I anticipated while reviewing the game, Pragmata has debuted to a tremendously positive response from players, with those on Steam overwhelmingly recommending the game and praising its classic yet innovative gameplay. And, of course, Hugh and Diana’s incredible and emotional adventure.

With 96 percent of reviews being positive, Pragmata now carries the prestigious “overwhelmingly positive” tag on Steam out of some 1,800 total reviews. The game came out earlier today, so there are many, many more reviews that are to be accumulated to give us a clearer picture, but even so, this early shockwave of positive receptions is more than enough to indicate that Capcom has outdone itself once again.

Those praising the title are saying it’s the “most fun [they’ve] had in a AAA in forever.” One particular review outlined the initially overwhelming but incredibly satisfying core gameplay mechanic where you both hack and shoot at the same time, which is also something I, too, genuinely loved about the game.

“They have integrated a hacking system right on top of the FPS controller. You swap between managing hacking or aiming by holding alt, with the mouse providing input for both. This sounds inconvenient in theory, but holy crap it works well,” the review reads.

Dubbing the game “Dad Space,” a wordplay on EA’s Dead Space, players are recognizing so many classical elements that make Pragmata feel like you’ve been sent back two decades into the Xbox 360 era of over-the-shoulder, level-based, third-person games. “This feels like a PS3/Xbox 360 era single-player game. I can already tell I’ll be sobbing big time,” said one positive review.

“Capcom really hits the spot with this new IP it feels like I’m playing an old Capcom game again,” said another, adding that Capcom really should keep innovating with new stuff rather than sticking to its guns all the time.

“Capcom, please expand the creativity like Pragmata, I know you guys have more cards on the table.”

In our review, I gave Pragmata a 9.5/10, calling it Capcom’s best title in recent memory. Though the company has put out some stellar hits over the years, most of them were set in established franchises and universes, allowing Capcom very little wiggle room so as to maintain recognizable brand characteristics. By developing a new IP, Capcom really let its creativity loose, innovating and thinking outside the box to create one of the most satisfying and fun games I’ve ever encountered.

And just like that last review says, Capcom really needs to start making more new stuff again. The company has accumulated so much talent and experience ever since its RE Engine era began in 2017, and it would be a crying shame to see all of that “wasted” on reinforcing established norms rather than materializing shiny new ideas, of which I’m certain there are many in the incredible minds of its developers.

But that’s all in the future. Right now, everyone seems to be loving Pragmata as much as I figured they would, and I’m more than happy to know that I was right for once.

Players exploring the world of Windrose

Tumbaga Ingot is one of those rare materials that you’ll need to find in Windrose, which is required to ascend different equipment. It’s one of the several types of Ingots you can obtain in the game. However, you can’t smelt it, which makes the process more difficult.

Let’s find out how you can get this unique ingot on your pirate adventure.

How to find Tumbaga Ingots in Windrose

So, you can’t smelt and make Tumbaga Ingots. In fact, you can only find it in specific locations. To find Tumbaga Ingots, you’ll have to head inside Ancient Ruins. Ruins are marked on the map, but their locations will be different due to the nature of the game’s map.

When you reach an Ancient Ruins, you’ll find a cellar entrance. Just look around the ruins, and you’ll find the cellar. Take the entrance to reach underground, and look around. Look for chests that are located in the ruins. Be careful, as you’ll find enemies (I found them during my rounds, but this can once again be different in your case).

Open the chests, and you’ll find Tumbaga Ingots. On my save, they’re not guaranteed, but the spawn rate appears to be quite common. However, they only appear to spawn inside the specific chests found in Ancient Ruins. This could change in the future since Windrose is in early access, and there will be updates.

How to use Tumbaga Ingots in Windrose

When you find a Tumbaga Ingot and read its description, it says that it’s required for ascending weapons. Since I am in the mid-game stage, I haven’t actively reached the stage where the weapons can be ascended. It’s tied behind a quest.

While it will take some time before you can ascend weapons, you can upgrade them quite early in the game. If you choose to upgrade them, you can improve their stats and how they function. Ascension, on the other hand, adds new skills for the weapons.
