Whispers in the Wind quest walkthrough in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Pocahontas arriving in disney dreamlight valley

Pocahontas has arrived, but it’s not clear where exactly she is in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Like many other villagers, she’s a bit lost, so it’s up to you to find and rescue her. This journey kicks off with the Whispers in the Wind quest.

Since this missing princess is hidden somewhere around the main valley rather than in a Realm, the process for finding and recruiting her looks different from any other quest series you’ve tackled so far. It can be rather tricky to work through on your own, so here’s a complete walkthrough for the Whispers in the Wind quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to complete Whispers in the Wind in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Bring the Glowing Algae to Moana

The Whispers in the Wind quest kicks off as soon as you find the Glowing Algae in the Dazzle Beach biome, which is the first step in the process for unlocking Pocahontas. Once you have this item, track down Moana to chat about it. Then, venture into her house, wherever you have it placed in the valley, and talk to her again to figure out what to do next.

Use the boating equipment in Moana’s house

After chatting with Moana inside her home, a white, sparkling spot will appear in the corner of her house, close to the tropical bench. Interact with the sparkling spot to use the boating equipment in Moana’s house, thus officially kicking off your journey. You’ll then find yourself on a mysterious island, so chat with Moana there to figure out your next steps.

Investigate the Mystery Island for the Swirling Flower Petal Winds

Moana spotted Swirling Flower Petal Winds around the island, and is certain they’ll help you figure out what’s going on, so you need to track this mysterious phenomenon down. From where you landed on the island with the boat, head straight past the crafting station and down the beach slightly. Stop when you spot a lone rock on your right, and turn and walk up the hill right behind it.

At the top of this hill, you’ll find the Swirling Flower Petal Winds. Chat with Moana next to the mysterious wind to discuss what comes next. She asks you to talk to the wind just like she does with the ocean, so select any of the dialogue options available to you to progress.

Pick up the Memory Orb

After you try chatting with the wind, a Memory Orb will drop on the ground nearby. Pick up the Memory Orb near the Swirling Flower Petal Winds to reveal a picture of two dig spots situated around the island. Talk to Moana about the Memory.

Search the Mystery Island for dig spots

Next up, you need to search the Mystery Island to find the two dig spots featured in the Memory. The island isn’t too big, but it’s quite dark, and everything kind of looks the same, so it can be a bit tricky to traverse. Here’s where to find each one.

  • To find the first dog spot, start at where you found the Swirling Flower Petal Winds, then head down the ramp on the left side, which is the only ramp you haven’t used yet. Head down to the beach and make a right once you hit the sand. Continue heading straight until you spot three pine trees sitting close together. Look down at the small grassy patch right beneath them to find the first dig spot.
  • For the second dig spot, head back to the ramp you first went up to find the Swirling Flower Petal Winds. Walk down to the bottom of it and head slightly right to find the glittering spot a few feet away in the sand right before the ground turns to grass.

Once you’ve used your Royal Shovel to dig up both spots, meet back up with Moana by the Swirling Flower Petal Winds at the top of the hill. Chat with Moana to show her what you found.

Re-order the jumbled Memory

Talking with Moana about what you found causes a new Memory to appear, only this time, it’s all scrambled. Next, you need to re-order it to fix it up, which is a similar process to what you likely previously encountered when working on unlocking Lady and Tramp during the Critters and Compassion quest. Interact with the Memory to start re-ordering it.

For this part of the quest, you need to slot all the pieces in their correct places. You’ll have to rotate most of them around. If you’re struggling to get it done, I recommend starting with the end pieces, which are easier to find since they all have flat edges. You can also refer to our finished version below to see where each piece goes.

Once the puzzle is complete, chat with Moana again to discuss what the image revealed. After chatting with her, follow her over to her boat on the dock, as the next part of this quest requires you to explore the seas to find the mysterious glowing spot. Chat with Moana on the dock by her boat to learn how to steer.

Interact with the boat on the Mystery Island

It’s time to set out and find the last missing Jewelry Piece, so interact with the golden sparkling spot on the boat to set out. You’ll be given four different spots you can venture to around the island. The only one that matters for this step is East: The Mystery Island Rocks, which is where you’ll find the strange, glowing pool from the Memory. Chat with Moana once you get there.

Explore the surroundings of the Mystery Island with the boat to find floating planks

Moana is worried you’ll get pulled into the powerful whirlpool, so you decide to explore around the island to find three floating planks you can use to make the process safer. To find and collect all three, you need to steer the boat to the North: The Mystery Island Wreckage. Three sparkling wooden planks can be found in the water around the boat in this area, and each one can be picked up by hand.

Once you have all three, chat with Moana. Now that you have some backup, return to the glowing whirlpool by sailing the ship back to East: The Mystery Island Rocks.

Place the planks on the boat

Interact with the sparkling spot near the edge of the boot, close to the whirlpool, to place the three planks, forming a bridge you can walk out on. Walk out to the edge of the plank.

Fish out the last Jewelry Piece in the glowing whirlpool

Equip your Royal Fishing Rod and toss the line into the white ripple spot in the center of the glowing whirpool. Catch what’s inside to obtain the final missing Jewelry Piece. Once you have it, head back onto the boat and select the Let’s go back to the island option to return to the Mystery Island.

Repair the Jewelry Piece

On the island, head left as soon as you land on the dock. Approach the crafting station situated there and click on Moana’s quest icon. Select the Repaired Necklace option to bring all three pieces back together. Then, head up the hill to meet with Moana back by the Swirling Flower Petal Winds. After chatting with her, you’ll pass the necklace over to the winds, and Pocahontas will appear.

Return to the valley

Pocahontas is ready to move back in, so you need to head back to the valley to get her home set up. Head down the hill and interact with the sparkling spot by the wooden barrel and oars to return to Dreamlight Valley.

Place Pocahontas’s Yehakin in the valley

Open your inventory, navigate to the Furniture tab, and click on Moana’s quest icon. Place the outline for Pocahontas’s Yehakin anywhere you like in the valley. Don’t worry too much about where you put it, as you can always move it around later. Interact with the Scrooge McDuck sign in front of her house to build it, free of charge this time, which is a nice change since most homes usually cost quite a lot of Star Coins.

Then, chat with Pocahontas to officially finish the Whispers in the Wind quest. With this mission now out of the way, you may now want to move on to tackling Elements of Nature Star Path duties.
