Modding community draws line ahead of Pragmata’s release

Pragmata, Capcom’s upcoming action-adventure game, is set in a fictional world that sees humanity advance far beyond what we know today. There’s bleeding-edge 3D printing technology, lunar outposts, and AI robots that serve as the primary antagonists in the game.

But one of the robots, who happens to be a main story protagonist, isn’t what you expect an android to look like. This particular android is named Diana, and she’s known as a “Pragmata.” Diana has the appearance of a small, seven-year-old child, and she possesses some incredible hacking powers that get you through Pragmata’s various levels and puzzles.

While Diana looks to be a likeable and funny character players will surely develop an emotional attachment to, the PC modding community has other concerns. Specifically, modders are worried about what kind of creations in relation to Diana will be published to mod websites when Pragamta is released on April 17.

One popular post on X talks about an “uncomfortable conversation” that needs to take place before the launch of the game.

The post states that even though Diana is technically an AI robot, she still has the appearance of a little girl, and modders must take this into account when creating mods. Namely, mods should avoid any kind of explicit content for Diana’s character model in Pragmata. This includes changing her default outfit, which is a large, blue puffer jacket that covers everything but her knees and down, as well as tinkering with her appearance.

In the past, mods that sexualize female characters have become some of the most downloaded add-ons on websites such as Nexus Mods and Steam Community pages. There are dozens of outfit mods for Stellar Blade’s main character, Eve, on Nexus Mods, for example. These outfits tend to reveal more of Eve’s body than the developers might have intended.

The key difference between Stellar Blade and Pragmata, though, is that Eve is a fully grown adult and already wears revealing clothing by default. In contrast, Diana in Pragmata is a child clearly meant to be covered up for obvious reasons.

While you can unlock new outfits for Diana in Pragmata, either through gameplay or buying specific editions, none of these outfits ever reveal more than the default jacket she wears when you first meet her in-game. In fact, some of the outfits cover up Diana from head to toe and don’t show any skin at all.

It stands to reason that some sick-minded individuals in the PC modding community will attempt to sexualize Diana in some shape or fashion through mods. To stop those mods from appearing, users in the community are requesting that players who see a mod of this nature report it immediately. Hopefully, administrators on sites like Nexus Mods and other modding communities will be ready to take down these types of mods and ban the creators when Pragmata launches, though.
