Minecraft’s first major update of 2026 is quickly approaching, and it’s going to completely change how just about every mob looks. The name of this update is Tiny Takeover since it’s all about reworking the baby mobs.
It’s been a few months since Minecraft has seen new content, with the last major update launching back in December 2025. You might be eager to start exploring some fresh additions, so here’s when the Tiny Takeover update will be released and all the new features it’s bringing to Minecraft.

When is the Minecraft Tiny Takeover update releasing?
The Tiny Takeover update for Minecraft doesn’t have an official release date just yet, but it’s expected to roll out in late March or early April. This is based on past update patterns and the patch officially entering a pre-release state as of March 10.
The pre-release state means the update is mostly ready to go and just needs a few more rounds of bug fixes, so the precise release date for Tiny Takeover may vary depending on how many issues need to be fixed. When a release date is unveiled, we’ll add it here.
All Minecraft Tiny Takeover update features
As the name of the update hints, Tiny Takeover mostly focuses on adding or remodeling baby mobs. Tiny creatures are the star of the show this time around, which means just about everything included in this update is based around them.
Baby mobs
Over 30 baby mobs have been updated or added in the Tiny Takeover update. This includes those you may run into while exploring anywhere in Minecraft, whether it be a forest, ocean, or the Nether. Here are all of the baby mobs that are changing or being added with it.

Golden Dandelion
If you don’t want your new adorable baby mob friends to grow up, you can now stop them from doing so thanks to the new powerful Golden Dandelion item. Feeding one of these to any baby mob keeps them young forever. They can be crafted using eight gold nuggets and one regular dandelion.
Craftable Name Tags
Prior to the Tiny Takeover update, Name Tags could only be found as random loot around certain structures. Now, though, Name Tags can finally be crafted, making it much easier to name all of your adorable new friends. They can be made using one paper and one nugget of any kind.
Other additions and changes
Outside of all the main major content featured in Tiny Takeover, there are also several smaller features and changes you may want to know about. These ones are less exciting, but still worth knowing about if you want to ensure you’re up to date with everything this update entails.
- A Trumpet note block has been added. You can place copper blocks at various oxidation levels beneath it to hear different sounds.
- New sounds for many baby mobs have been added.
- Some adult mobs, including pigs, cows, cats, and chickens, spawn with different sound personalities, which means each one you come across may sound a bit different.
- In Bedrock Edition, you can now spawn baby mobs by using the spawn egg on an adult version of the mob. This feature already existed in Java Edition, but has now finally made its way to Bedrock, too.
If you’re looking for some tasks to keep you busy in Minecraft while you wait for the Tiny Takeover update to arrive, there’s plenty to choose from. You might try working on getting the Lava Chicken music disc, making a Copper Golem, learning how to use the player locator bar, and crafting all copper tools, weapons, and armor.
