Marvel Rivals dev says monthly hero release schedule isn’t going away: ‘It’s not going to slow down’

Deadpool Marvel Rivals

One hero a month. Every month. That’s what Marvel Rivals has been doing since 2025, and according to devs at NetEase Games, it won’t be changing any time soon.

Releasing a new character in a hero shooter every single month, meaning 12 new ones every year, means there’s always something to go back to in the game. On top of limited time events, new skins, and balance changes, the game isn’t going away any time soon, according to executive producer Danny Koo.

This creates balance issues, sure, but as a live-service title looking to retain players, Marvel Rivals’ biggest strength is the Marvel IP, which has six decades of characters to pull from. And they’re probably going to get weirder from here on out, and with no end in sight.

“We want to work with the team to introduce different play mechanics,” Koo said to IGN. “If someone is too similar, then it’s not that exciting. If we have five shooting guns like Punisher, then it’ll be less exciting than someone that does something completely different.”

Less guns and odder heroes sounds like fun to me, and with Marvel’s giant roster of existing heroes and villains, NetEase won’t be having to get creative with original characters any time soon…which is also fine by me. I really hope they eventually begin to pull from the weirdest characters and teams.

“We have so many characters in Marvel, [we’re] not looking at outside of Marvel,” he said. “We do have collaborations with other Marvel games, let’s say. At this point, we have so much content.”

A potential issue, other than game balancing (which is an ongoing struggle in any live-service game), is how to navigate a game’s UI when it has dozens upon dozens of characters. There are already 48 of them, and that number will only grow from here.

“It’s like, ‘Who’s your favorite heroes that you want to play, so you can have them at any time at your disposal?” he said. “‘What are new characters that you want to play?’ And this is every season, and you have to solve that problem. And then, if the matter changes, it’s like, ‘How am I going to pick those characters?’ Certainly, we’ll work together on how we present that to the players. But I run the live-service side of Marvel games. We have games [that have] over 200-300 characters, and it’s not going to slow down.”

Two hundred to three hundred characters in a hero shooter? Buckle up, and good luck learning everyone’s kits, I guess.

Jackpot in Scritchy Scratchy

The road to building your empire in Scritchy Scratchy is filled with opening as many scratchy tickets as you can. However, you’ll have to be strategic about which tickets you buy to scratch. They come with different odds, luck, and prices, and this guide will provide you with all the necessary information.

To proceed across all the catalogs, you’ll first have to buy all available scratch tickets (for a single catalog). This will then allow you to buy the Final Chance as relevant for that catalog. Once you scratch the Final Chance, accept the death, and move on to the next catalog. The more prestige bonuses you have, the quicker you’ll be able to go through the cheaper cards of any catalog.

While costlier tickets will tend to have better luck, there’s a cap applicable to all of them. Once you hit that cap, there won’t be any incremental effects for the extra luck that you might have.
