It seems Assassin’s Creed is bringing back its biggest gun to make Hexe more worth your while

Assassin's Creed Infinity codename hexe

After Assassin’s Creed Hexe garnered some bad rep following significant and sudden reported changes to the game as well as the departure of its two directors, positive news was well in order. Now, it appears the biggest AC legend, Ezio Auditore, will appear in the game in some capacity, whereas the main lead is said to be one of his descendants.

That is according to Insider Gaming, which, citing a supposed leaker called “Rogue,” wrote that the main character in AC: Hexe named Anika is a descendant of the Auditore family, specifically Ezio’s sister Claudia. On top of that, Rogue claimed that “Ezio is 100 percent returning,” referencing several scenes that apparently involve Ubisoft’s biggest star.

In one sequence, Anika recognizes Ezio’s apparel, that being his signature white uniform and hood. “That white hood, it’s like the one in my mother’s drawings,” Anika says to him, and he replies that her mother, his sister, wanted Anika to “have a life,” apparently indicating that Claudia did not wish for her to become an assassin like her uncle.

In another, Ezio and Anika seemingly converse, with the white-robed assassin referring to himself as an “old man” and telling her of the Assassin Creed “Nulla è reale, tutto è lecito,” meaning “Nothing is true, everything is permitted.”

The last time we saw Ezio was Assassin’s Creed Revelations, and though he did not die in the game, it is revealed in AC: Embers that Ezio passed away sometime after the game’s closure while in Florence at the age of 65. Therefore, the story of Hexe, if the leak is true, had to have taken place prior to 1524, the year of Ezio’s death.

Other details revealed by Rogue imply that Anika is being labeled as a “demon,” which Ezio says he was labeled as in Italy for a while, but also that someone or something wants to “burn” Anika for what she knows and can do. If the game truly takes place prior to 1524, then I don’t see it set anywhere but perhaps Spain during the early decades of the Inquisition, seeing as Protestantism, from which Puritans derived, won’t become as established for many years after the supposed passing of the great Florentine assassin.

Rogue also named a character called “Wolfgang” as a potential appearance. That does imply Germany (Holy Roman Empire) as a setting, but nevertheless, it still doesn’t match the peak of persecutions that wouldn’t come until the second half of the 16th century.

At any rate, though, this rumor is rather interesting and would be yet another effort on Ubisoft’s part to try and hammer in as much nostalgia bait as they can. The company hasn’t been the source of pop cultural phenomena for a long time now and has lost over 90 percent of its value as a company in just the last five years.

Remakes, remasters, and tie-ins with older, more recognizable stories and characters are a good way forward, so long as the games they make end up actually being good.

Palia Royal Highlands promo image

The Royal Highlands update in Palia has made the map bigger, but we can save our time and energy by finding a horse for ourselves. To make matters even better, all of us can have the mount for free.

However, there are a few tasks to complete before we can get our hands on our stallion.

How to unlock your horse in Palia Royal Highlands update

The first task is to reach the Royal Highlands region. If you’re someone new to the game, you should still be able to access the location. However, you’ll come across certain spoilers for content related to the main campaign.

Next, we will need to find Hassian, an NPC, and you’ll find a horse next to him. The horse next to Hassian will be trapped in amber. You’ll have to free it by using your pickaxe, which can be done after starting the Before the Dawn quest.

Next, look for Dawnspur Lilies to feed the horse. You’ll find the flowers in the nearby locations, and they’re easy to find. Once you find three flowers, return to the horse. Hassian will then ask you to ride the new mount. He will claim that the horse appears to be fond of you, and you’ll find out if that’s not the case. Hassian will then return to the camp, leaving you with your mount.

Open the tool menu and choose the saddle icon. You’ll now find the horse added to your list of options. Select the horse, and it will appear as your ride. You move on the horse by using the same controls that you use for your character.

Do note that your horse will have a stamina gauge that will empty when it sprints. Once the bar is depleted, it will move more slowly until the stamina is refilled. To prevent that from happening, move through golden orbs since that will partially restore the lost stamina.

Combined with your ranch, you can also breed your horses and ride them. It’s a really cool mechanic that will save a lot of time during exploration. Since new players can also access Royal Highlands early, you can make your mount a part of your journey.
