Weapons are key to establishing your pirate empire in Windrose, and upgrading them is something you’ll need to do consistently. Most of the weapons will be useful until you come up against harder enemies. That’s where upgrades are key, since they will allow you to improve the potential of your weapons.
Let’s find out how you can upgrade the weapons from your collection to help them achieve their potential.
Windrose weapon upgrades explained
To upgrade weapons, you’ll first need to have access to a Weaponsmith Workshop.
- Once you have access to the Weaponsmith Workshop, head to the upgrade tab.
- Next, select the weapon you want to upgrade. Upgrades differ between weapons, and the same requirement doesn’t apply to all.
- You’ll now view the raw materials that are required for the upgrades.
- Add the items and confirm your choice to perform the upgrade.
Basic/starter weapons are easy to upgrade as their requirements are low. Advanced weapons require more complex items, and you’ll also need to upgrade your Weaponsmith Workshop. To upgrade your Weaponsmith Workshop, you’ll need to use anvils and bellows.
So far, the two resources you’ll need the most for upgrades are hides and ingots. Hides are mostly Rough Hides that you can find by slaying boars. These are not easy beasts to slay, and you need to be careful when approaching them.
When it comes to Ingots, they’re of different types. Basic ones like Copper and Iron can be obtained from smelting. However, Silver and Gold Ingots are harder to find. You’ll need to be on the lookout for these items and try to obtain them from loot.
Weapon upgrades can only be completed when you’re within the range of a bonfire. To save your materials, always store your items at your base. There’s no point in traveling with them, since you can only use them for upgrades in your base. Storing them will also prevent the items from being lost if you die.
That’s all you need to know when it comes to upgrading your weapons in Windrose.

The People of Tortuga is one of several factions in Windrose, and finding the buyer can be a headscratcher. You might think that you’ll find them in Tortuga. That’s where the problem is: they’re at a different location.
This guide will help you find the People of Tortuga faction so that you can find the buyer and interact with him.
How to find the Tortuga faction in Windrose
Since the map of Windrose is procedurally generated, sharing the location of the People of Tortuga faction might not workout for you. Instead, here’s how you can find the faction quite easily.
- Keep grinding the missions until you receive the Buccaneers quest.
- This is a faction quest that you can undertake at character level 3.
- The first task of the quest is to get 50 bags of gunpowder for the Buccaneers and deliver them to Henri Boucher.
- The second task is to deliver the shipment of tanned hides to Charlie Sharpe.
- Charlie Sharpe, incidentally, belongs to the People of Tortuga faction.
- If you open the map now, the quest location will highlight where Chalie Sharpe is located. This is the same place where the People of Tortuga Faction can be found.
Complete the second task of Buccaneers, and you’ll have found the location of the People of Tortuga Faction. This is the most consistent method of finding the faction. Typically, you’ll find them at a hideout slightly distant from Tortuga.
Once you find the hideout, you’ll also find the trader waiting for you at the same location. You can then proceed with your transactions. If you want to focus back on the Buccaneers’ quest, there will be one more task for you to complete.
