How to acquire combat data from UESC Ghosts and UESC Data Bank in Marathon – Parasitism 1 contract guide

Arachne corp representative in Marathon.

Parasitism 1 is one of the priority contracts you will find for the Sekiguchi faction in Marathon, and there are multiple tasks to complete.

The first Parasitism contract is pretty tricky to complete. You’ll go up against a bunch of tough enemies, and all tasks must be completed in the same run. Let’s look at how you can complete the contract without any extra risks.

Marathon Parasitism 1 contract walkthrough

The Parasitism 1 contract can be broken down into three parts.

  • Acquire combat data from UESC Ghosts on Processing rooftop
  • Acquire UESC Data Bank from Pinwheel Base center
  • Deliver UESC Data Bank to DCON

How to acquire combat data from UESC Ghosts on Processing rooftop

The first task is relatively easy to complete (compared to the second task). Head to the Processing POI and take the stairs to the roof. Drop to the lower level of the roof, and you’ll find a couple of UESC Ghosts. Shoot them down, and you’ll get the two UESC combat data to add to your inventory.

How to acquire UESC Data Bank from Pinwheel Base center

This is the hardest task of the contract. Once you reach the marked spot on the image above, you’ll find a terminal to open the Pinwheel Base. You’ll find a tower to interact with, but you’ll also need Clearance Codes (if you’re playing in a trio, this job is easier).

  • Yellow Clearance Codes can be found from the terminals shown in the image above. You’ll find them at random spots on the map. While they might not always drop the Yellow Clearance Code, you should find that once you interact with a few.
  • Green Clearance Codes are available as random loot on the map, and they can be found in the open. Their locations, just like the other two, are completely random.
  • Red Clearance Codes seem to drop from terminals located on the roof. You have to interact with one and wait for a few seconds for the Clearance Code to become available.

Once you’ve all three Clearance Codes, you’ll need to interact with the terminal to submit them. The terminal will allow you to access Pinwheel.

When you submit the codes, pay attention to what the terminal wants. Sometimes, it can want two codes, and they might often need to be of the same color. Ideally, you’ll want to have two of the green codes and one each of the other two colors before you approach the terminal.

A bunch of UESC enemies will spawn after you interact with the terminal. Kill them, and interact with a nearby workstation to complete the hack. It takes some time for the hack to complete, so you need to be on your toes. Once the hack is complete, you’ll find an elevator in front of you.

Take the elevator, run straight through two doors, and a quest marker will appear. You’ll be approximately at the center of the Pinwheel Base location. Next, return to the same spot where you found the terminal (where you submit the Clearance Codes), and you’ll find a DCON nearby.

There are three DCONs on the Outpost map. Submit the UESC Data Bank in one of them, and it will complete the first Parasitism contract. While the rewards aren’t that worthwhile, it unlocks the latter Parasitism contracts that offer better goodies.

Marathon space ship

The Parasitism 5 contract is a priority task to complete for the Sekiguchi faction in Marathon, and it’s a collection of three different activities.

Parasitism 5 is the final contract in the series, and this guide will help you complete all three tasks.

Marathon Parasitism 5 contract walkthrough

The Parasitism 5 contract can be broken down into three tasks.

  • Extract biotic sample from Sparkleaf in Bio-Research
  • Synthesize SIMbiont in Quarantine and inject yourself
  • Allow the SIMbiont to integrate with your shell; then exfil

How to extract biotic sample from Sparkleaf in Bio-Research

For the first task, head to the Bio-Research location in the northern area of the map. You’ll first need to pick up Sparkleaf that can grow among vegetation.

They don’t have a specific location, but they’re fairly common. Once you find a Sparkleaf, head to the marked location in the image below.

You’ll find an extraction machine to extract a biotic sample from the Sparkleaf (place it in its inventory and then wait for a few seconds).

How to synthesize SIMbiont in Quarantine and inject yourself

Pick up the sample and head to the southwest part of the map, where you’ll find the Quarantine POI. I have marked the location where you’ll find a small room with the terminal inside (will be highlighted by a quest marker when you’re at the marked spot).

Access the Synthesizer and place the sample to get the SIMbiont. Inject yourself with the item and then wait for 1 minute and 30 seconds. You’ll need to survive a UESC onslaught as the SIMbiont integrates with your shell. Once you manage to survive the 90 seconds, safely exfil from the map, and you’ll complete the final Parasitism contract in Marathon.
