GIGABYTE has announced the G27U, a 27-inch gaming monitor that aims to eliminate one of the biggest compromises in gaming displays: choosing between high resolution and high refresh rate.
With its new Dual Mode feature, the G27U allows users to switch between 4K UHD at 160Hz and Full HD at 320Hz, effectively combining two use cases into a single monitor.
A monitor that adapts to how you play
The G27U is designed for gamers who move between immersive AAA titles and competitive esports.
In 4K mode, it delivers detailed visuals suited for cinematic gameplay. Switch to Full HD, and the refresh rate jumps to 320Hz,targeting fast paced shooters where responsiveness matters most. A dedicated Tactical Switch 2.0 enables one-click toggling between modes, avoiding the need to navigate on-screen menus.
Built for speed and clarity
The monitor features a SuperSpeed IPS panel with 1ms GTG response time, along with G-SYNC Compatible support to reduce tearing and stutter.
Additional gaming-focused technologies include:
- Aim Stabilizer Sync for reduced motion blur during variable refresh rate gameplay
- Smart OD, which dynamically adjusts overdrive to maintain optimal response performance
- Built-in tactical tools such as customizable crosshairs and visibility enhancements
Wide color gamut for gaming and creation
Beyond speed, the G27U is engineered to deliver exceptional visual quality, making it equally capable for both gaming and creative use.
It features:
- 95% DCI-P3 color gamut, enabling a wider and more vibrant color range compared to standard displays
- 10-bit color depth (1.07 billion colors) allowing for smoother color transitions and reduced banding
For gamers, this means more immersive and lifelike worlds, with richer environments, deeper shadows, and more realistic lighting effects. For content consumption, users can enjoy cinema grade visuals, bringing movies and streaming content closer to the creator’s original intent. For creators, the expanded color range and precision provide more accurate color representation, making the G27U suitable for photo editing, video work, and light design tasks.
In short, the G27U doesn’t just display content, enhances how content is experienced across gaming, entertainment, and creation.
HDMI 2.1 for next-gen platforms
The G27U is equipped with two full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports (up to 48Gbps) alongside DisplayPort 1.4, enabling seamless connectivity across modern gaming platforms.
This high bandwidth is critical for unlocking true high resolution and high-refresh-rate performance simultaneously, something older interfaces cannot fully support.
For gamers, this translates into several real-world advantages:
- 4K high refresh gameplay on consoles: Fully supports next gen consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X at up to 4K 120Hz, delivering smoother and more responsive gameplay.
- No bandwidth bottlenecks: Full HDMI 2.1 bandwidth ensures uncompressed or minimally compressed signal transmission, preserving image quality, color depth, and motion clarity
- Plug-and-play multi-device setup: With two HDMI 2.1 ports, users can connect both a console and a gaming PC simultaneously, eliminating the need to swap cables
- Future-ready compatibility: Designed to support upcoming GPUs and gaming systems, ensuring the monitor remains relevant for years
In short, HDMI 2.1 transforms the G27U into a true multi-platform gaming hub, delivering consistent high performance whether you play on PC or console.
Why it stands out
Most gaming monitors force a tradeoff: choose higher resolution for visual quality, or higher refresh rates for competitive performance.
The G27U stands out by effectively combining both into a single display through its Dual Mode design.
This approach brings several meaningful benefits to users:
- One monitor for every type of game: Enjoy 4K 160Hz for visually rich AAA titles, then switch to 320Hz for fast paced competitive games, without changing displays
- Simplified setup, less clutter: Eliminates the need for dual-monitor setups dedicated to different use cases, saving desk space and reducing cable complexity
- Cost efficiency without compromise: Instead of investing in two specialized monitors, users get multi-scenario performance in one device
- Seamless transitions between use cases: With one click switching, users can instantly adapt the display to match their activity, gaming, streaming, or even browsing
- Better long-term flexibility: As gaming habits evolve, the monitor remains relevant across different genres and performance needs
In essence, the G27U isn’t just improving specs, it’s redefining how a single monitor can adapt to different gaming experiences.
Positioning and use case
Rather than focusing exclusively on either resolution or refresh rate, the G27U combines both into a single product.
This approach may appeal to users who would otherwise consider using separate displays for different types of games, or who want a more flexible setup without adding additional hardware.
Availability and pricing
GIGABYTE has officially introduced the G27U monitor in the United States, with retail pricing at $349.99. The new monitor is now available through major online retailers including Amazon.
The G27U reflects a broader trend toward more flexible gaming displays that support multiple performance profiles. By offering both 4K 160Hz and 320Hz modes, it targets users who want to switch between visual quality and high refresh rate without changing monitors.

What to expect from Saros
Saros is a PS5 exclusive that puts you in the shoes of Arjun Devraj. As a Soltari enforcer, you’re tasked with investigating Carcosa. At its heart, the game is a rogue-lite experience, where failure will happen. However, you will still gain something from one run that you can carry to the next one.
Every run will feature dangerous enemies and bosses to take down. To help your cause, you’ll be able to customize your loadout and improve your weapons across your runs. You’ll also gain different resources that will help you to do that. Finally, you can always make use of your Second Chance mechanic (needs to be unlocked), which works as a reset switch if something goes terribly wrong.
While things look and sound pretty exciting, Saros will only be available to PS5 players for the time being. There’s always a chance for it to arrive later on PC, but that seems quite unlikely as of writing.
