How to prevent and fix dead battery in My Winter Car

Cars racing in My Winter Car

My Winter Car‘s winter conditions make survival a true test, and having a dead battery in the snowy lands is far from ideal.

Getting a dead battery isn’t a common phenomenon, but it can happen if you keep repeating certain mistakes. Fixing a dead battery isn’t only difficult, but you might not always have the solution available on hand. Hence, the first objective is to take care of the power source of your car as much as possible.

How to prevent a dead battery in My Winter Car

A dead battery prevents your car from starting and working as usual. While your vehicle will still start and move, it will be causing trouble on the road. A dead battery also means a power drain, which causes more issues. To prevent the situation, you’ll have to be careful about a few things.

  • Don’t leave the blower on once your car is warm.
  • Don’t use the lights when not required.
  • Don’t keep the ignition turned on when your car isn’t moving.
  • A cold car will also draw more power. Always use the Block Heater to prevent your car from freezing when it’s parked.

These are all essential activities, but you should ration your use as much as possible. When you’re leaving the car overnight, always connect it to a power source. Check that the lights, blower, and built-in heaters aren’t turned on. Also, you should turn them off when they’re not required.

Sadly, there are no instant solutions to repairing a dead battery. The easiest way to fix the problem is to reload your save. Reloading the save will temporarily remove the problems of a weak battery, but the issues will return if you keep making the mistakes mentioned above.

Another temporary solution is to turn off your car and connect it to the Block Heater. This can also potentially power up the battery and help it work better. Apart from these solutions, there’s not much else you can do regarding a weak battery in My Winter Car.

The player gives a thumbs up to an NPC driver in My Winter Car.

My Winter Car is steadily attracting new players in the holiday season, and we already have a fair amount of mods to try out.

Available via NexusMods, the mods will allow you to go beyond the base vanilla experience. Some of them are mere add-ons and enhancements of features that are already live inside the game. Others might be a bit more towards the ‘cheating’ side of things, or you can use them to ease your gameplay experience.

This guide will give you a brief overview of what I consider the best mods in the current build of My Winter Car and what you can expect from them.

Best mods to use in My Winter Car

Before we can deep dive into the collection, you’re going to need a NexusMods account. Thankfully, it can be opened for free, and all the mods you see here won’t cost you any money.

  • FL2S BOX: This is practically the most broken mod you can currently get from NexusMods. This mod activates the God Mode and allows you to do whatever you want. You can have infinite stats, teleports wherever you want, and even toggle off the permadeath feature. Honestly, this mod should be used if you only care about finishing the game as quickly as possible.
  • MWC Cheatbox: Very similar to the FL2S BOX, but offers fewer advantages. Interestingly, this mod allows you to skip jail if you want, while also having item spawn and infinite money.
  • MWC Advanced Steering: Steering on the frozen lands isn’t the easiest of tasks, which can be done better with the help of this mod. Once enabled, you can use precise mouse steering while driving your cars.
  • My Winter Backpack: This is one of my favorite mods since it adds a backpack that acts as your inventory. It’s an innovative solution that allows you to min-max what you want to do without making the game feel broken.
  • SAW – Save AnyWhere: Instead of having to pee and save the game, you can use this mod to add an instasave button.

These are my favorite mods that you can use in My Winter Car. The collection of available choices should increase in the days to come. All mods have to be installed carefully.

How to install mods in My Winter Car

The first task is to follow the specific information that you’ll find for a mod. Once done, download the mod files. Extract it to the main My Winter Car folder (where the game is installed). Run the game, and the mods should run automatically.
