Vampire Crawlers has a host of different Power Ups available for you to choose and upgrade, and doing so will make your runs easier. These are special modifiers that offer permanent bonuses. The more you rank (tier) them up, the bigger the effects.
This guide will help you to decide where you should invest your coins first.

Complete Vampire Crawlers Power Ups tier list
I have used three tiers to differentiate between all the available Power Ups that can be ranked up.
- S-tier choices are simply the most powerful ones, and they should be the first ones you should rank up.
- A-tier choices are great options, but they do have some limitations. They can be considered as S-tier alternatives in certain niche cases.
- B-tier choices are either average for most decks, or they’re very situational. Some of them can be considered as A-tier if you get them to max rank.
A note: I haven’t considered the cost of the upgrades because earning coins isn’t difficult. I have judged the Power Ups based on their in-game effects and how ‘broken’ they might feel.
S-tier
| Power Up | Reason |
|---|---|
| Crawler Slot | Having more Crawlers on a run is immensely helpful, and the Crawler Slot allows you to bring additional help. You get to add an extra Crawler per rank, and you can even bring names whose abilities complement one another. However, save these upgrades until you have unlocked at least a fair number of characters. |
| Luck | Having Luck on your run is a no-brainer. The higher your Luck stat, the better the chances for you to find powerful gems, rarer weapon cards, and more. This is one stat where you should invest as many upgrades as you can, and it’s a great choice for veterans and beginners alike. |
| Recovery | Regaining health on an encounter isn’t easy, and you’ll always take some damage. To reach the final round and win, having several stacks of Recovery will allow you to restore health after each encounter. If used smartly, you might even restore all your lost health between two boss encounters. |
A-tier
| Power Up | Reason |
|---|---|
| Armor | You get to add 2 Armor per rank, and having the extra protection will help you preserve your crawler for a longer period of time. It’s useful, but not as much as Recovery. |
| Greed | Coins are useful, and you’ll need them for almost anything (including ranking up Power Ups). With more points in Greed, you’ll earn more coins and then use them as you want. |
| Might | Having the ability to do more damage is pretty vital, and more so when you have invested a few ranks. The damage buff is universal, which means it will automatically apply to all applicable cards when you play them. |
| Growth | The faster you gain XP, the faster you grow. Reaching new levels helps you to add new cards, gems, and more. In short, your deck becomes more powerful whenever you gain XP and level up. Having the boost will certainly make your life easier. |
| Amount | This is an S-tier Power Up once you have enough projectile-based cards added to your deck. It will increase the number of projectiles by one every time you rank up. Naturally, you’ll be shooting multiple arrows/knives/whatever is applicable once you have a few upgrades. |
| Reroll | Since there’s a huge element of luck, you can easily end up with options that you might not like. Having the chance to at least reroll and try for something new can be useful when used strategically. |
B-tier
| Power Up | Reason |
|---|---|
| Area | The Power Up does splash damage of 10% per rank-up. It’s useful in some scenarios, but it loses relevance when you’re up against a boss. |
| Duration | Allows Duration crawlers to stay for extra time, but doesn’t have too many use-case scenarios. |
| Skip | Allows you to skip choices and get XP, but having extra options on your run is going to be more useful than the extra XP. |
| Max Health | There are some crawlers who benefit from the extra HP, but you’ll also have to heal to restore the additional cap. The bonus HP feels redundant for several crawlers. |
Additionally, you’ll come across the following Power Ups during your runs. So far, I haven’t found an option to rank them up using coins.
- Banish
- Curse
- Hand
- Magnet
- Mana
- Revival
Out of them all, Mana is the one you should be looking to draft as a priority. Having extra energy to play will allow you to create more combos and clear encounters faster.

There’s a host of different stats in Vampire Crawlers that will define your chances of completing a specific stage. If you’ve played Vampire Survivors, you’ll be well familiar with most of these stats. If not, then you can refer to the following section to understand what each attribute means.
Vampire Crawlers stats explained
The table below briefly explains what every stat means so that you can always stay on top of your deck’s strength and prowess.
| Stat | What it Does |
|---|---|
| Max Health | It raises your Max Health by 10% per rank. You’ll still need to heal and restore your health after increasing the cap. |
| Recovery | Heals 1 HP per rank after each encounter. Extremely useful to passively restore your lost HP after every completed battle. |
| Hand | Determines the number of cards you’ll pull when a fresh turn begins. |
| Mana | Raises the max mana available for you to use. |
| Armor | Nullify all incoming attacks. You gain +1 Armor per rank, and also increase it by playing Armor cards. |
| Might | Raise the base damage of all weapons by 10% per level. |
| Area | Dish out AoE damage from your attacks, which increases by 10% per rank. |
| Amount | Adds extra projectiles for your weapon cards. |
| Duration | Allows you to increase the duration of your Crawler’s stay by one per rank. |
| Magnet | You can draw extra cards per turn. |
| Revival | Get extra lives. |
| Luck | Raises all positive stats, along with increasing the quality of your drops. It increases by 20% per rank. |
| Growth | You can get extra XP. |
| Greed | You’ll get 10% extra Gold Coins per rank. |
| Reroll | You can reroll your draw to try and get other options. You get +2 reroll choices per rank. |
| Skip | You can skip level-up rewards to get extra XP and Gold. |
| Banish | You can banish cards that you want to avoid from showing up on your run. |
| Curse | A negative stat that will amplify the damage of your enemy’s attacks. However, you’ll get more XP and Gold. |
Typically, the Power Ups you use will have a direct impact on the stat values of your current run. When you upgrade a Power Up, it will permanently raise the applicable stat for your character (the buffs will be available across all runs). However, your attributes will also depend on the cards you draw and the crawler(s) you use.
