With the success of The Elder Scrolls Online‘s Dragonknight rework, fans are already counting down the days for Update 50. There’s a lot on the table for when it releases, though it may take a bit of time until then.
ESO‘s U50 won’t bring any major class reworks, but it will significantly shake up all classes by adding to them rather than transforming. Werewolves, however, will get some new life with the update. Here’s when it releases.
ESO Update 50 release date
Though there is no official release date for ESO‘s U50 yet, Zenimax shared that it will go live in June 2026. This is in line with the usual interval of around three months between major updates, following U49 in March.
You can expect U50 to contain the Werewolf rework, as well as the Class Mastery passives for those who don’t subclass, and a plethora of other improvements. Having bonuses for not borrowing skill lines from other classes is arguably the most meta-defining part of the update, at least for PvE: most (if not all) meta builds pick up bonuses from other trees, such as Nightblades’ Assassination, Sorcerers’ Storm Calling, or, more ubiquitously, Arcanists’ Herald of the Tome.
The player experience livestream on March 26 also showcased a few improvements coming with the update, such as:
- Improved Companion XP rate
- New post-Coldharbour Golden Pursuit called Path to Adventure
- Transmute Stations (almost) everywhere, including in Mages Guilds
- A Guild Mail feature
- Improved limit for daily quests
ESO Update 50 PTS release date
If you’d like to get an early look at U50, some parts of the patch are scheduled to land on the Public Test Server (PTS) on April 13. This is an important opportunity to provide feedback and shape the major content drop (though if you’re just there to flirt with the vampire quest giver, we won’t judge you).
Zenimax will share more information in livestreams before then, with a Seasons Direct on March 31 and another broadcast on April 9. Before U50 lands, players will also have the release of season zero on April 2 and the Night Market on April 29.
Players will have to wait to fully take on what ESO offers with Update 50, though Zenimax has enough in stock to keep us occupied until then.

The Fated Shadow sword is one of those rare weapons in Crimson Desert that you can miss quite easily. However, its Greysoul Howling ability is one, if not the best, weapon skill that you can utilize. Sadly, the weapon isn’t part of a quest, so you’ll need to put in some extra effort to find it.

Fated Shadow sword location in Crimson Desert
To find the Fated Shadow sword, you’ll need to head to the Abyss region at Nest of Valor. The region is near the Dry Valley. This area might remain hidden for you. If you have reached the endgame content, you’ll reach the Abyss area after defeating the Goyen boss in Chapter 9.
Once the Abyss map is available, use the nexus on the small island next to the Dry Valley. This is the easiest way to travel to the spot where you can find the Fated Shadow sword.
How to reach the Fated Shadow sword in Crimson Desert
Once you arrive at the spot, the main path will be split into two directions. Take the path going right, and you’ll arrive at a small cave. Take the staircase next to the cave, and head upstairs. Inside, you’ll get a Fishball Soup recipe if you haven’t visited the location previously.
Keep traveling to the back of the cave, and a small icon will appear near a bucket and a few other objects kept on the floor. You’ll really need to be close to the spot for the marker to appear. This is the same spot from where you’ll manage to interact and add the Fated Shadow sword to your arsenal.
How does Greysoul Howling work in Crimson Desert
The Fated Shadows sword comes pre-built with the Greysoul Howling ability. You can activate it by pressing the R1/RB and R2/RT buttons, and it requires Spirit to work. It will call the ghost of Goyen, which releases a sweeping strike of shadow energy across the target area.
This ability is one of the best attacks, in my opinion, and you can target individual/multiple enemies with it. You can always choose to sell the ability and the sword, but I have kept both in my arsenal.
