Super Mega Raids are coming soon to Pokémon Go (or already there if you’re visiting the community events in Los Angeles), so you’ll need to understand Link charges and how they work.
Link charges are a new source of energy in Pokémon Go. They’re exclusively required for participating in all forms of Mega Raids. This includes the Standard and the Super variants, with the latter going to being the ultimate test.
Like all sources of energy, you can only hold a finite amount of Link Charges, and they also finish once you use them to enter battles. This guide will explain the complete concept for you to use the resource as efficiently as possible.
How do you get Link Charges in Pokémon Go
So, how exactly do you get this energy resource? Well, you’ll notice something called a Link Holder in your item bag. This item is available to all for free, and it will always be equipped by default. Once you get the Link Holder, you can start to collect Link Charges.
There are different ways to get Link Charges.
- All types of social activities in Pokémon Go will reward you with Link Charges.
- Complete different Weekly Challenges to get them.
- You can also get Link charges by checkin in to official meetups hosted by the community.
- You can also get the energy by opening gifts sent by your friends. You can also return the favor by sending them the gifts.
If you have tickets for Tainan and Los Angeles events, you can get Link Charges by purchasing them from the store or from the Tour Pass Deluxe when the event is live. Once the Kalos – Global event goes live at the end of February, you’ll be able to purchase it from the store. However, you can also get it for free via the methods I have mentioned above.
How to use Link Charges in Pokémon Go
To use Link Charges, you’ll first need to fill up your Link Holder. Once it’s full, you can use it to enter Super Mega Raids (if you’re playing locally). If you’re playing remotely, you’ll also need a Remote Raid Pass. You can also use the energy to enter a Standard Raid.
Do note that the Super Mega Raids go live globally when Kalos – Global kicks off at the end of this month.
