What do you think of when you imagine Resident Evil? Is it zombies and lickers, or is it Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield?
I wasn’t sure how to answer this one properly until today. The new trailer for Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil movie reboot dropped this morning, and there is nary a S.T.A.R.S. member or government agent to be found…and it still looks absolutely incredible, echoing reported sentiments from a recent test screening.
“In an all-new story, Resident Evil follows Bryan (Austin Abrams), a medical courier who unwittingly finds himself in an action-packed, non-stop race for survival as one fateful, horrifying night collapses around him in chaos,” the synopsis reads.
This sounds like what a Resident Evil movie needs to be. The past iterations all featured some very hit-or-miss (mostly miss) attempts to capture the game’s cheesy charm and personality, and for the most part, they failed. They weren’t without their entertainment value, but for my money, putting the horrors of bio-weapons and a massive Raccoon City outbreak through the lens of the average citizen is what this story treatment needs. No more cheesy action sequences, no more Alice, no more bad Leon and Ada cosplays. Just horror.
There are some very quick glimpses of the terrors that await Abrams’ character in the trailer, including many zombies, lots of blood, and some really portly fella who looks a lot like Baron Vladimir Harkonnen from Dune. I can’t wait to see what the heck that thing does.
The cast list for the movie currently only has four actors shown (more will be added), which sure sounds like the vast majority of the movie is going to be non-stop zombies, monsters, and terrifying action like the final scene of the trailer above. And you know what? Hell yeah. I think Abrams is perfect for this type of role, too, judging by his scene-stealing performance in Weapons.
Resident Evil launches in theaters later this year on Sept. 18, and I will be first in line to check it out and potentially purchase some T-Virus popcorn buckets or whatever Sony comes up with.

The Totenreich map in Black Ops 7 Zombies has a new musical easter egg for you to solve, and the process involves finding three Mister Peeks Headphones. The three headphones, as is the norm, are spread all around the map.
This guide will help you figure out all three locations so that you can unlock the song at the earliest.

You can find the following headphones in any order you like. There’s no fixed way to find them. To activate the song, you’ll need to find and interact with all three of them.
Dry Dock
You’ll find a massive boat in the Dry Dock location, situated right at the center. Drop down to the ground, and head to the right of the boat. Reach approximately the middle of the boat on the ground, and the headphones will be located in a box on top of the crates.
Core Foundry
The second one can be found in the room opposite the Double Tap Root Beer machine in Core Foundry. Head inside (from the side of the Root Beer machine), and then turn right. There’s a bunch of old machinery located near the wall, and the headphones are located among them (look down by crouching, and you’ll find your headphones).
Loven’s Antiquities
The third one is located near where you spawn on the map. Head inside from the main door of the building, and look past the desk. There are a bunch of plates in the cupboard, and the headphones are in the bottom shelf.
Once all three headphones have been found, it will activate the No One There track, composed by Kevin Sherwood and Vicky Psarakis.
