Mass Effect TV series writer claims they were ‘caught off guard’ by rewrite rumors

Are we saved, Shepard? Is the Mass Effect TV series not actually currently in the middle of some ill-mannered calibrations?

Two weeks ago, The Ankler reported that the upcoming Prime Video Mass Effect TV series was ordered to undergo rewrites to be “more appealing to non-gamers,” which rightfully sent the fandom into a bit of a tizzy. And funnily enough, this also came as a surprise to the series’ screenwriter.

Daniel Casey, who’s worked on projects like F9 and 10 Cloverfield Lane, is heading up the writing of the Mass Effect show in the works at Prime Video. They were asked this morning about the report from April 6, and claimed incredulity.

“So, I can’t talk about the specifics of what I’m writing (I’ve signed NDAs, etc) — but for whatever it’s worth, that article by the Ankler caught me off guard just as much as you,” they said in a reply on Bluesky. “I don’t know where that ‘non-gaming audiences’ quote came from or who said it, but at no point has that been said to me.”

Alright. That doesn’t exactly quell every worry that I had, but it’s good to know that Casey is working on the script and the reports of the “more appealing to non-gamers” rewrites are apparently untrue, according to them. That still leaves plenty of questions as to what the show will focus on, where and when it will take place, and who it will star. But for now, I’m willing to chalk this change up as a minor W.

The Mass Effect universe is an important one to its fans, including me. For my buck-fifty, I think it’s one of the best sci-fi universes ever crafted, and it is rife with potential for expansion into all sorts of time periods and galaxies. If (and that’s a Reaper-sized if) done right, it could be absolutely epic.

Hopefully, with less C-suite meddling (so far) and a dedication to the source material, along with the team behind Prime Video’s great Fallout series behind it, we could get a Mass Effect adaptation worth entering a Mass Relay for.

Fate of the Prophets is one of the more advanced side quests you can complete in Windrose. The recommended player level is 14, so you’ll have to do a fair bit of in-game grind to gain access to the quest.

The crux of the quest is about exploring the ancient observatories.

Travel to the Stargazer Tower (position will have a marker) and reach its inner sanctum. You’ll have to solve the puzzle to open the secret room. Head inside and interact with the Observatory Stele to find out what happened with the first Stargazer.

The second one is in an ancient observatory that’s located southeast of the Stargazer Tower. Follow the marker, and clear all enemies you can find in the area. Solve the puzzle, and reach the inner sanctum. Interact with the second Observatory Stele to find out what happened to the second Stargazer.

Follow the marker and head north to find another observatory. The basic ritual is the same: kill the enemies, head to the inner sanctum, and interact with the Observatory Stele to find out what happened with the third Stargazer.

Finally, travel to the warlord’s death site, but there won’t be anything to note. Instead, you’ll need to defeat Chick Chan. It’s not the hardest of bosses, but it has a massive health pool. Hence, you’ll inevitably take damage from its attacks. Just stock some healing items, and you should be good to go. Once Chick Chan is defeated, it will end Fate of the Prophets, and you’ll get the following rewards.
