How to play and win the Soul Savior mode in Monster Train 2 Destiny of the Railforged

Lifemother in ARC Raiders

The Destiny of the Railforged DLC in Monster Train 2 has added the Soul Savior mode, and it adds a fresh way to play the game.

The core aspect of the Soul Savior mode is similar to the base game: you build a deck of cards that’s best suited to face everything against them. The system of upgrades you apply, however, is quite different.

How to play the Soul Savior mode in Monster Train 2

The first prerequisite is to own the Destiny of the Railforged DLC. This is a paid expansion, and the price is terrific relative to what it offers. You also might need to finish the main campaign (I had it all done on my end). If not, I advise you to clear the base game before giving this mode a try.

From the Depart section on the home screen, you’ll find a new option called The Rift Station. Click on it, and you’ll open the Soul Savior mode. This mode, on its own, has sub-options like Soulforge, Covenant Outpost, and most importantly, Depart.

Soul Savior mode in Monster Train 2 explained

The core objective of the Soul Savior mode is to free different souls from Lifemother’s clutches. Once you rescue them, the souls will apply different upgrades to your cards. The upgrades appear to be random, which makes every run pretty unique.

  • Soulforge: The Soulforge acts as your main upgrade center in the Soul Savior mode. At first, you’ll find that most spells and units are locked. However, you’ll also find what needs to be done to unlock them. Unlocking a spell/unit will enable it to be used on your runs.
  • Covenant Outpost: If you want to go back to the base game modes.

First, you have to select a soul. This will be Ghastbud (the only one unlocked by default). Next, choose the Primary and Allied Clans, your Pyre Heart, and difficulty. Bloom is the only difficulty that’s available by default. The remaining difficulties will need to be unlocked by getting wins in the Soul Savior mode.

Next, pick the cards from your clan packs to build the deck. Once your deck is ready, you’re all set to face Lifemother’s children. There are four: Tivi, Maera, Thaddeus, and Lylith. You can challenge the four children in any order.

You’ll face Lifemother once all four children are taken care of. It’s quite natural for you to fail a few times, but you’ll unlock more spells, units, and more in the process. You can use the addition to improve your deck.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is now just a little over nine months away, for real this time, and it’s still on track for its current release date.

That info comes straight after GTA publisher Take-Two’s earnings call today, which touted the upcoming fiscal year that will be “led by the November 19th release of Grand Theft Auto 6 with Rockstar’s launch marketing set to begin this summer,” in a statement to IGN.

And so, we now have some confirmation that the next time we’ll hear or see more about GTA 6, at least publicly and barring any more leaks, is this summer. And further confidence that the game won’t suffer from further delays.

As for recent rumors that GTA 6 will be foregoing physical editions in an effort to avoid more leaks, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told Variety “that’s not the plan.” So, get those disc drives ready on your PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

For now, we wait until the summer for some hands-on previews and probably a new trailer or two, including the first official look at gameplay. It could happen at Summer Game Fest or another seasonal gaming event, but it’s likely that Rockstar will release the information on their own along with media impressions.

Meanwhile, Take-Two also announced that GTA 5 has sold a whopping 225 million copies, which means GTA 6 has sky-high expectations to try and recreate that. It may not be possible, but if any game could do it, it’s likely this one.

GTA 6 is due to launch for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on Nov. 19, 2026, so start your countdowns now, if you somehow haven’t already.
