How to get Tulin in Animal Crossing New Horizons

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has nearly 500 unique villagers for you to meet, which means there are lots of characters to choose from. You can only have 10 on your island, though, so choosing carefully is crucial. One villager you may be interested in unlocking is Tulin.

To obtain most characters, you have to explore mystery islands or hope you get lucky enough to have them as a campsite tourist. The process for unlocking some villagers looks a bit different, though, which can make them tricky to recruit. If you’re unsure how to invite the special Zelda collaboration character to your island, here’s how to get Tulin in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

How to unlock Tulin in Animal Crossing New Horizons

To unlock Tulin as a villager, you must scan a valid Zelda amiibo in ACNH. Most characters can be unlocked for free, although they can be tricky to find, but Tulin is a special collaboration character, which means the only way to get him is by purchasing an amiibo add-on to summon him.

The process for recruiting Tulin is much more complex than it is for most other villagers, especially if you’re not familiar with using amiibo, so here’s a full walkthrough of how to get it done.

  • Obtain one of the valid Zelda amiibo. Only certain ones can be used to summon Tulin, so be sure to select one of the valid options from the list below to initiate the process of recruiting her.
  • Visit resident services. Head to the building near the back of the plaza, which is the same one where you can find Isabelle and Tom Nook.
  • Approach the ABD. Interact with the green ATM machine in the right corner to view all available ABD options.
  • Select the “Invite amiibo camper” option. Make sure you have your amiibo ready to go first, as selecting this option will officially begin the process.
  • Scan your Zelda amiibo. Place your amiibo on either of the NFC touchpoints, which are the joysticks, to scan it in.
  • Invite Tulin to your campsite. Tulin will appear and ask if you want her to visit your campsite. Say yes, and he will arrive on the island right after.
  • Complete Tulin’s request. Visit Tulin at the campsite and talk to him to receive a request. Complete whatever he asks to make the first step toward unlocking him.
  • Repeat this process for three days. Go through the same steps listed here for three days to get Tulin to ask to move onto the island.

There are 16 unique amiibo you can scan to summon Tulin as a campsite villager. You only need to scan one of them, though. Any other Zelda amiibo you may have will summon Mineru rather than Tulin, so make sure you choose wisely to get the villager you want most. Here are all of the amiibo you can use for Tulin.

  • Toon Link (Super Smash Bros.)

Mosshorn in Hytale

It has now been a week since Hytale emerged from the dead and entered into its early access program, finally giving its fans a taste of this long-awaited experience. It’s already receiving praise across the board, despite its rather limited (and reasonably so) content breadth, and its creator couldn’t be happier.

“It’s now been seven days since early access launch and I can confidently say that I have no regrets [for] saving Hytale,” said the game’s original creator Simon Collins-Laflamme on X, who sold the IP to Riot Games and bought it back from the company last November. “It’s been the most challenging but rewarding experience of my life,” he added.

Collins-Laflamme went on to thank everyone who has participated in the early access launch thus far, and especially highlighted the Hytale development team that managed to bring the game from near-death to a playable, early-access-ready state in just a couple of months.

The title truly has had a wild ride. It was first announced in late 2018, but would end up in development hell for seven long years. All sorts of issues bogged down its development before it was eventually cancelled, with Collins-Laflamme stepping in to try and save it from demise. He would succeed by November 2025, and end up bringing the game to eager fans by mid-January.

That’s a Biblical journey if there ever was one, and I’m glad to see it doing so well.

Cool concepts, ideas, and innovations that strive to break the monotony and dominance of single entities (in this case Minecraft) only stand to make all our lives better, so it would have been a tremendous loss for everyone if Hytale wound up as just “the game that could.”
