The focus of R.E.P.O.‘s Cosmetics Update is to give semibots a new, fully customizable uniform to add character and personality that spices up your painted metal.
No longer do you need to separate into your favorite colors when launching a co-op lobby. Introducing cosmetics, a new way for individuality and uniqueness for customization is just around the corner, but its offers aren’t infinite. With only the default items that you can’t even mess around with, you need to unlock cosmetics to alter your semibot’s appearance.
Here is everything you need to know about cosmetics in R.E.P.O.
Where to find cosmetics in R.E.P.O.
Cosmetics work differently from items and weapons in R.E.P.O. Instead of spawning and claiming land in the Service Station, cluttering the space, cosmetics are tied directly to the new Tax Tokens. Cosmetics do not spawn in. Rather, they are purchased inside the Service Station via the large pillar sporting the cry-laugh emoji that’s spinning on the spot. Gathering Tax Tokens via boxes you find in the world (exclusively in the levels: Headman Manor, McJannek Station, Swiftbroom Academy, and Museum of Human Art) and inserting the tokens you extracted back into the dispenser inside the Service Station rewards you with a random cosmetic.
How many cosmetics are there in the new R.E.P.O. update?
There are over 500 unique cosmetic items in R.E.P.O. These appear as meager boxes to start, dotted around levels, separated by rarity. While it’s not impossible to find these boxes in level one, it’s highly unlikely. The further you get in your quota, the higher the chance of finding one or more boxes, which you must then bring to the Service Station by using the Extraction Point that transfers a box into one Tax Token to then convert into either a common, uncommon, rare, or legendary cosmetic item. You can tell what kind of item rarity you’re going to get based on the color of the box you’re extracting:
- Green: Common
- Blue: Uncommon
- Purple: Rare
- Yellow: Legendary
These increase in size and weight the rarer the box is.
How to customize your semibot in R.E.P.O.
Customization can start from the moment you launch the game. You do not have to join a lobby to change your semibot’s appearance. The total number of new and unseen items will be displayed next to the ‘Customize’ option in the Main Menu. You can open this before and after you’ve joined a game, launching a screen where you can find everything you have collected in one place. All items are separated by body part, and you can give your semibot a new paint job, randomize their appearance with what you’ve unlocked, or save outfits as a preset. Click on an item to equip it and hit ‘Confirm’ when you’re good to go.

If your Discord messages are struggling to send or you’re having general problems with the app, you’re not alone.
The chat app has been suffering issues for several hours now, but Discord said on Twitter/X that it was aware of the issues and is working on it. It’s already seeing some positive signs on my end, which is sad, because the server issues made me realize how much I’m on the damn app.
Granted, I use Discord for both work and personal reasons (talking to my significant other and friends), so I’m on it a lot. But still, the feeling I just got made me shudder to think about looking at my screentime details on my iPhone. I think I’m going to be touching some significant grass this weekend.
Discord’s DownDetector page started showing an influx of error reports at around 2pm CT, and it appears the issues are API-related. But slowly and surely, the errors are subsiding and messages are starting to come through again.
Your mileage may vary, as it’s still pretty spotty for me, but worry not. You should be able to hop on a voice call with friends to play games or watch movies tonight. Or you could be like me and leave the cave for once.
This is a breaking news story. It’s being written in real time.
