The Quartz Compass Malfunction in Styx Blades of Greed is one of the harder quests to complete, and it teaches you the grappling mechanic.

Once you’re past the beginning stages of Styx Blades of Greed, you’ll need the grappling mechanic to access new areas. This guide will help you complete the Quartz Compass Malfunction as quickly as possible.

Styx Blades of Greed Quartz Compass Malfunction walkthrough

The Quartz Compass Malfunction quest can be broken down into the following parts.

• Find another way toward the strange compass signal
• Collect the seeds and place them to open the vegetal gate
• Advance towards the compass signal

Find another way toward the strange compass signal

Once the cutscene before the quest is over, you’ll get a grappling hook from Jasper. Once you obtain the hook, you’ll spawn in the jungle with the task of having to reach the compass signal. The direct way, as you’ll find out, is blocked.

From there, proceed left, and use the L1/LB button to use the grappling hook. Swing across the ledge and proceed into the cavern. You’ll find some insects, and it’s best to avoid them. You’ll also find a seed; collect it because you’ll need it later.

Cross the cave, and you’ll come across a giant tree. Use your hook to go around from the right and keep proceeding towards the quest marker. You’ll enter a room that has another seed. Collect the second seed, and keep following the marker until you reach a small cave with spores at its entrance.

Go inside, and you’ll find a locked vegetal gate. To open this gate, you’ll need five seeds.

If you have followed the steps as mentioned until now, you already have two of the five seeds. The third seed is on the floor in front of the gate. Go close to the puds and press the Y/Triangle button to place the three seeds. Now, you’ll need two more.

Go out of the cave, and take a left. Use the grappling hook and swing your way to the room ahead of you. You’ll find the fourth seed on the counter to your left. Bring it back to the gate and place it. To get the fifth and final one, head outside the cave.

Don’t use the hook, and just jump on the cliff to your left. Jump across three platforms and then pass through a room with your grappling hook. Once you reach the room’s exit, look down. You’ll find a branch. Grapple onto the branch, and there will be a group of insects blocking your path to the cavern. Go inside, and you’ll find the final seed.

Advance towards the compass signal

Once you’ve returned all the seeds, the quest marker will lead you to a voice. You’ll come across numerous bugs on this path, so keep your grappling hook at bay. You’ll come across some men chatting in front of you. Avoid being spotted, and go past them to reach a dark room with red lights to your left.

Inside, you’ll find two soldiers. Kill them both, and you’ll find three more after the exit. Wait for their chat to finish, and continue on your journey towards the marker once the soldiers are gone. If you encounter more soldiers, try going past them. You can assassinate them, but I didn’t want to raise too much attention on my save.

The marker will finally have you reach a massive cavern. Enter via the narrow opening, and eliminate all the soldiers in the path to the waterfall (just follow the marker). Take the path going left, and use your hook. Go down towards another cavern, and you’ll meet Wren. Once the following countdown is over, you’ll finish Quartz Compass Malfunction.

Earlier on Feb. 19, Mega Crit revealed the official trailer for the game and also announced the release date. Up until now, we knew that the game would be released on early access in March. Thankfully, we have the official date, and this guide will help you keep track of the upcoming launch.

Slay The Spire 2 release countdown

Slay The Spire 2 will release in early access on Thursday, March. 5. The release date was confirmed earlier tonight, and the following countdown will expire once the game goes live.

• 8am PT
• 10am CT
• 11am ET
• 4pm UTC
• 5pm CET

The timings mentioned here are based on the information available on SteamDB. However, the timings are extremely likely to change before March 5. If that happens, I will duly update the changed timings on this guide.

What to expect from Slay The Spire 2

Slay The Spire 2 marks the return of the roguelike deckbuilder in a new form, as the Spire has awakened after 1,000 years and poses a new threat. Just like the Spire has evolved, so has the ability to move up the towers.

The key objective remains the same, as you have to move up the Spire by defeating different enemies with your own cards, abilities, and more. No two climbs will be the same, as you’ll have to constantly evolve your deck and strategies as per the enemies in front of you.

There’s a whole cast of returning and new characters with five different options available for you to pick from. Every character will have a unique playstyle, and you can improve them further on your run.

There’s one huge change as you no longer have to play alone. You can choose to climb the Spire on your own, or you can partner with up to three other players in the new co-op mode. Since Slay The Spire 2 will release in early access, expect to find plenty of new features that will be added down the line as future updates.
