How to breed cats in Mewgenics

One of the most important tasks in Mewgenics is to breed your cats, and you can practically raise an infinite army by doing so.

Breeding is a simple task, but there are several aspects to master. There’s no possible way to make certain which cats will breed. However, controlling the other factors will enable you to create the perfect mutation.

How to breed in Mewgenics

Once you have enough kittens in your lair, you’ll slowly start to learn more about them. Over time, you’ll learn more about your cats. This includes their sex, interests, and more. You’ll find a new stray daily, which allows you to expand your squad faster.

Once you end a day, breeding takes place. You’ll get the kittens the next morning. Once you find a kitten, you’ll get to know which of your cats are the parents. You’ll need to wait for the kitten’s second day before you can send it out to battle.

How do cats inherit stats in Mewgenics

A kitten will get its stats and abilities from its parents. This is a completely random process, but you can control certain aspects. Ideally, you’ll want to have a room with a high simulation stat, since that allows your kitten to inherit the better qualities.

Unlike stats, skills are mostly inherited from a single parent. These can be one of the cat’s base skills, or something they have learnt over the course of a battle.

Kittens can also inherit mutations and defects from their parents. You can control this by using a room with a high Health stat, as you can then cure the defects of your cats.

Do cats have genders in Mewgenics

A kitten can have one of three genders, represented by Male, Female, and ?. They can also have different sexual orientations in the form of Straight, Gay/Lesbian, or Bisexual. Two cats of the same gender won’t be able to have kids. Hence, it’s important to have heterosexual or bisexual cats of different genders in your house.

There are a few more stats that you have to keep in mind as well.

  • Aggression determines how frequently your cat fights with other cats in the house.
  • Libido determines how frequently your cat wants to breed.
  • Breeding status represents how inbred your cat is.
  • Affinities determine how frequently a cat is bound to either fight or fall in love if they’re left in the same room.

While breeding is fun, you have a lot less control over it compared to other aspects, like equipping collars.

Mewgenics is not a resource management game by any stretch of imagination, but you will need plenty of space in your inventory.

Your inventory space is where you’ll be storing the different items you find during your adventures. Storing these items will allow you to assign them to the cats of your choice before beginning a fresh run. Thankfully, you can increase your inventory space once you start clearing the early game content.

How to get more inventory space in Mewgenics

To increase your inventory space, you’ll need to donate cats to Butch. The number of cats you have to give to Butch will be plenty. As you might have thought, the cats you donate will be lost from your home, and you won’t get them back.

To donate cats to Butch, you’ll need to submit in batches of 20. Moreover, Butch has certain zone requirements when it comes to taking the cats from you. You can only submit cats that have been to the following areas on at least one adventure.

  • Sewers or Junkyard (Act 1)
  • Caves or Boneyard (Act 1)
  • Sub-branches in Act 2
  • Sub-branches in Act 3

Hence, you’ll first need to take the cats to the above areas. Most of the zones/areas mentioned above will first have to be unlocked. This also creates a problem, since cats taking part in your adventures will have better stats and higher levels. Submitting them permanently will feel slightly disappointing, but having the extra space is extremely beneficial.

How to use Trash to increase inventory space in Mewgenics

You have an additional set of slots where you can store items that you don’t immediately need. All items that are not in your storage are lost when a new day begins. However, you can use the Trash slots temporarily to manage your inventory.

You can shift any item to the Trash that you won’t need on your next adventure. Some of the items you carry will be consumed. Similarly, you’ll also find new items on your adventure that will return with your cats. You can then decide what you want to keep in your storage and what you want to throw away. It’s a smart way of managing the limitations of your inventory until you get those upgrades from Butch.
