First zombies, then battle royale. Now this looks like gaming’s next big trend—and a promising upcoming FPS has sealed the deal

As 2025 winds down and we look towards the future of gaming, a newly announced FPS caught my attention in a big way after its reveal earlier this week.

It’s called Supreme Experiment, and it has some pretty familiar tropes. Humanity escaped Earth, evil robots took over, et cetera. But the trailer and screenshots shown thus far really have me itching to find out and see more, because I think it looks like something quite different than the way this sort of game has been presented before.

“It has been a century since humanity retreated into the Spire Cities—towers stretching eight kilometers into the sky, high above the toxic clouds,” the description reads. “Down on the surface, fleets of intelligent machines were left to maintain the world and supply the towers with everything we needed. Since then, everything ran on its own. No one remembers how it works anymore. The city above the clouds is the only world we know.”

Sounds lovely! A city in the sky? What could go wrong? Man, I love BioShock Infinite. AI and robots evolving to the point of destruction? It’s been done before, and it’s been done recently (hello, ARC Raiders and Horizon Zero Dawn, etc.), and as you may expect, things do not go according to plan in this world, and it all starts to get quite weird down on Earth. But after a closer look, the feel and vibe present me with something that perks me up.

“But one day, the flow of resources simply… stopped,” it continues. “The machines fell silent. No signal. No explanation. Hunger and cold are creeping up the towers. Someone has to go down there and find out what happened. No one alive has ever done it before. You are the volunteer. But the world waiting below is not what we imagined. Not even close.”

That world below is where I’m drawn, because the art style of what has become of the robots is very unique and unsettling. As it shows in the reveal trailer and some of the images released thus far, the robots have taken on the form of living things like animals and, more disturbingly, humans.

The trailer is atmospheric and unnerving. If the gameplay can match it, then this game may be something to keep an eye on. On Steam, the game is tagged as an “Immersive Sim” FPS, Action-Adventure, and Atmospheric. And yeah, I can see that.

It’s tough to get too excited about Supreme Experiment without seeing any gameplay at all just yet, but man, I’m really loving the look of it thus far. It’s currently got no release window scheduled, so for now, let’s all keep an eye on this one as we head into 2026 and beyond, because I think it’s got the makings of something special.

For now, let’s just hope the concept of this game remains as art and doesn’t translate too heavily into what we have going on in our real world today.

ARK Survival Ascended Lost Colony promo image

ARK Survival Ascended‘s Lost Colony DLC has finally been released after a launch delay, and it brings a host of new creatures.

While the list of prehistoric creatures was already vast in the base game, Lost Colony adds to them. This guide will list all the new creatures along with their brief in-game descriptions. As always, I will add to this guide if I come across new names that are part of the DLC but not mentioned here.

Complete list of Lost Colony DLC creatures in ARK Survival Ascended

The theme of the Lost Colony DLC is pretty same as that of the base game. Some of the new creatures are straight from the books of history. Others are mutated monsters that are byproducts of the misuse of technology.

NamesDescription
AureliaxA brand new flying creature, you can use the Aureliax to destroy enemies with gravity effects.
CryolophosaurusDeals damage via narcotic sludge, but it can also buff your allies.
DesmodusThe Desmodus uses echolocation to target and damage enemies, and it can be a great option in areas where visibility is low.
GigadesmodusThis massive creature is an absolute tank and also allows you to place a mobile command center on its back. This is arguably one of the best creatures to find in the Lost Colony expansion.
GloonThe strange creature fires a laser, and it can make other creatures go into a frenzy and lose self-control.
GargoylesMythical creatures that are made of stone, and they can be extremely dangerous if you aren’t careful.
MalwynThis is the aggro version of the Veilwuyn, and offers multiple forms of attacks to take down enemies.
NeophytesAnother massive bat-type creature that can absorb a great deal of enemy damage before feeling the effects.
OssidonA giant primate that throws sludge balls at enemies. It can deal damage from range.
RevenantsThese are corrupted remnants of Thralls and dinosaurs that have been corrupted by the liquid Edmundium.
SolwynSimilar to Malwyn, it can use ice for different reasons, and can also be used as a mount.
VeilwynAn Arctic Fox that can teleport (has some other handy uses as well).

Overall, I really love the different creatures that are part of the Lost Colony DLC. Vielwyn is a curious creature that comes in two other forms: Solwyn and Malwyn. There might be more forms that I haven’t discovered yet.

I have always loved gigantic creatures, and it doesn’t get any better than the Gigadesmodus, which is absolutely massive. Taming the beast is a challenge in every sense, and I will have a guide to help you do the same. While I would have loved for the DLC to have more creatures, the different types make up for the lack in quantity.
