Horror co-op title Shift at Midnight is as much about pets as it’s about catching doppelgängers and surviving the horror at the store. When you begin your adventure, you will be able to pick a pet of your liking. While they don’t offer any in-game advantages, keeping your best buddy alive will have an actual impact on the ending.

In this guide, I will go through all the available pets that you can pick from. I will also go through how to cure them and how much money you will potentially require doing so.

All pet types in Shift at Midnight

You can pick your pet in Shift at Midnight at the very start of your adventure. In the current build of the game, there are three available options.

Dog: Available in two different variants based on their sizes.
Cat: Only one orange-colored variant.
Goose: Just one variant that’s different from the typical choices.

Once again, there are no in-game advantages based on your picks. You can choose whichever creature you like, and you can also change them before proceeding deeper into the game on your first night.

How to take care of your pets in Shift at Midnight

While your pet remains perfectly fine at the beginning of your adventures, they will fall sick. Once your pet is sick, you will have to pay for their medical expenses with your funds. Failure to do so would end up with them getting killed, and this can directly impact the ending that you are after.

Pay $20 for the first treatment.
Pay $40 for subsequent medicines.
Pay $250 for surgery.

If you do the maths, you will need a total of $310. You have 13 nights on your hands, and you will get $10 daily added to your personal funds. This brings the total up to $130.

To get the remaining amount, you will need to make a lot of sales. You will need to sell $1,800 worth of goods. If you manage to do so, you will get $180 as 10% commission on the sales. This will now allow you to have $310 to pay for the surgery for your pit and completely cure it when required.
