ARC Raiders has witnessed plenty of unique in-game additions from Embark over the last three months, and the community has one more suggestion for the developer: an alternative for everyone’s beloved rooster, Scrappy.
So far, most of the additions to the game have been new cosmetics, maps, and map conditions. While the visual goodies have been mostly about character outfits and accessories, a significant chunk of the community feels that a different pet companion would be nice.
A new pet could be ARC Raiders’ players’ next major request
As of writing, Embark has remained tight-lipped about the upcoming updates. Though we’re not aware of any current plans around customization for Scrappy the rooster, the community wants more options. An enterprising Reddit user shared a mockup showing what the companion screen could look like in the future, and the feedback was enthusiastic.
The concept art features a fluffy orange cat named Ginger. Since it was posted on Jan. 21, this image has spurred a number of similar ideas from players featuring multitudes of various species. So what does the community want? Here are a few of the animals and birds doing the rounds in the comments.
- Birds like magpies and ravens, specifically for their roles in different lore and folk tales
- Trash pandas (raccoons)
- Different types of dogs and cats
Whether it’s the upvotes on the thread or the overwhelming number of replies, the ARC Raiders community is definitely on board with a customizable pet. Given how much I love animals, this would be an excellent feature for someone like me. Adding new animals as cosmetics can be a brilliant way for the developers to earn a few extra bucks from microtransactions without adding anything that can be considered pay-to-win.
Alternatively, we can have custom skins just like the outfits that we already have. While the number of pet companions, aka Scrappy, remains the same, it will no longer just be a rooster. Instead, it could be a cat, a dog, or any other design that Embark could think of. The potential is truly endless, and the designs could also be based around specific seasonal themes.
The question is, will Embark consider such a request? There’s always a chance. The current priority, I suppose, will be towards adding more in-game content like maps and quests. We received Stella Montis back in November, followed by Cold Snap in December. The next update, when it happens, could be a new map. But who can say no to a surprise new companion?

The finale in the Woolhaven DLC of Cult in the Lamb requires you to make a hard decision about whether you want to embrace the Rot or purge it for once and all.
The ultimate decision has to be made by you, which will also decide the final outcome. This guide will provide you with information about both outcomes so that you can be well-informed when the time comes.

What happens if you embrace the Rot in Cult of the Lamb
To reach the point where you have to decide, you’ll need to clear most of the Woolhaven content. Once you return Sariel’s spirit to Woolhaven, you’ll have completed filling all the graves around Yngya. The first choice is to embrace the Rot.
If you choose to go for this outcome, you’ll gain Faith daily if there’s a Rotten Follower in your cult. Rotten followers are similar to normal ones, but they survive for longer periods. The number of Rotten followers you have doesn’t matter; having one is sufficient.
What happens if you purge the Rot in Cult of the Lamb
If you choose to go with this outcome, you’ll gain Faith whenever a Rotten follower gets killed.
There’s no wrong decision, and you can continue your playthrough irrespective of whether you embrace or purge the Rot. However, I personally went with embracing it for two simple reasons.
- Rotten followers don’t consume any resources, which is extremely useful. If they die, you get Rotburn, which is immensely helpful to keep your base warm during the winters.
- Rotten followers are a core part of the new Woolhaven DLC. Lore-wise, keeping them alive made sense to me. Garnering sufficient Faith at the endgame stage has never been an issue, either in the base version or in the expansion.
