You know what you can always rely on in a Poppy Playtime chapter? Those mysterious and lore-rich VHS tapes. Though more limited in chapter five, Broken Things; it simply means you have to pay close attention to those colorful televisions; else you’ll miss out on sweet lore.
We’ve fallen into the heart of Playtime Co., the Laboratories. A solo endeavor similar to the first chapter, A Tight Squeeze, this entry has a strong focus on platforming, puzzles, and learning to get through the nightmare by yourself. There are three tapes this time around, found mostly in the later half of this title. Here’s where to find all Poppy Playtime: Broken Things tapes.

Poppy Playtime Chapter 5: VHS tape locations
Tapes will always spawn in close proximity to a block color television set that matches the color of the tape you’re searching for. Whether you find the tape or the television first, be sure you don’t stray too far; otherwise, you may miss out as the game likes to lock you out of the previous room when it auto-saves. If you’ve already played the game or are currently in a playthrough, you can use the Load Game function to jump to a particular main or sub objective.
We’ll show you exactly when and where you can pick up and play Broken Things‘ VHS tapes.
Experiment 1170: Executive Showcase
- Objective: Find a Way Into Reanimation (complete ‘Collect 3 Memories’)
- Color: Blue
The first tape is in the locked hallway with eight conditioning rooms where Ms. Gracie projectors are played in order to collect one of the three memories. Look out for a keypad that displays cartoon faces of different emotions. The code for this door is obtained in the third and final memory, where Huggy Wuggy breaks out after being forcefully strapped in for conditioning.
Input the code in this order: Happy Happy Disgust Sad Fear Happy. The tape is on the floor in front of the now unlocked door. Go to the end of the destroyed corridor to find the room Huggy Wuggy was in for the blue television set.
Three P’s of Diorama Safety
- Objective: Find a Way Into Reanimation (Complete ‘Use the Projectors to Distract Huggy)
- Color: Yellow
This tape is hiding in the first playground area on the ice cream truck ride following the intense and stealthy standoff against Huggy Wuggy. This is the first stop on the ride. Go up the ramp on the climbing frame (on the other side of the yellow slide). The tape is there. Ascend the climbing frame, then jump across and onto the wooden platform in the tall tree to find the yellow television set.
How to Maintain Your– (Illegible)
- Objective: Find the Backup (Find a way down to the Surgical Rooms)
- Color: Red
The final tape is in Surgery Room 2. Break the two cracked windows along the perimeter of Surgery 2 (the room at the top of the Grand Stitchery stairwell) with the Pressure Hand. Then, swap to the Conductive Hand to take power from the source and go back towards the stairwell to insert the power into the conductor inside Surgery 2. This will unlock the door where you can head on inside. The code is visible via the UV light on Glowby, where 7 2 8 will unlock the cabinet with the VHS tape inside. Go to Surgery Suite 1 (outside and to the right from Surgery 2) to watch the tape.
Pick this up before completing Grand Stitchery.
