Exploring the island and engaging in battle entirely on your own can be tough, so it’s sometimes nice to find a friend to fight with you in Fortnite. Recruiting some help is also part of certain quests, so it’s crucial you know where to find hireable specialists when you need them.
NPCs can be found hanging out all around the island, but their locations are pretty well hidden, so it’s fairly tough to track them down. It’s even more difficult to find specific characters who have extra abilities, so if you’re having trouble doing so, here are all the hired specialist locations in Fortnite.

What are hired specialists in Fortnite?
Hired specialists are a unique type of NPC you can spend gold bars to hire in Fortnite. There are many different NPCs you can find in Chapter Seven, season one, but only a select few are classified as hired specialists who are willing to lend their aid to fight at your side.
Hired specialist locations in Fortnite
In total, there are five specialists you can hire across the entire island in Fortnite. This number has changed throughout the season, and may shift around even more before it ends, so if any NPCs are altered or added before this quest is no longer available, we’ll update all relevant details here. For now, though, there are just five recruits to choose from, each of which can be hired for 600 gold bars.
- Carina is an ammo specialist who can be found near the northeast end of Lethal Labs.
- Carter Wu is a heavy specialist who can be found near the south end of Latte Landing.
- Cat Holloway is a medic specialist who can be found near the south end of Humble Hills.
- Miles Cross is a heavy specialist who can be found near the middle of Painted Palms.
- Kingston is a medic specialist who can be found near the west end of Bumpy Bay.
How to damage opponents with a hired specialist in Fortnite
To complete the damage opponents with a hired specialist quest, you need to hire an NPC and have them deal 200 damage against enemy players. You can get this done in one go by ensuring you take a powerful specialist into a few fights, or work on this across a few different rounds by hiring a couple of different characters and dealing a small amount of damage each time.
Some specialists are more effective at dealing damage than others, as each one has a unique specialization. To work through this quest as quickly and efficiently as possible, it’s a good idea to hire one of the two heavy specialists, either Carter Wu or Miles Cross. These two are much more potent damage dealers than the rest of the options since they specialize in explosives and fighting.
All other horeable specialists work, too, but it’ll likely just take a lot longer to get this mission done since their damage is less potent. They’ll also be more focused on their specializations, which are ammo for Carina and healing for Kingston and Cat Holloway, so they’re less likely to damage foes quickly.
Now that you have a friend to help you out, you’re ready to take on some tough trials around the island. If you’re unsure where to begin, start with quests like jumping from Sunset Falls into the water below, spreading newspapers about Kingston’s new movie, and using Flushers in different matches.

The finale in the Woolhaven DLC of Cult in the Lamb requires you to make a hard decision about whether you want to embrace the Rot or purge it for once and all.
The ultimate decision has to be made by you, which will also decide the final outcome. This guide will provide you with information about both outcomes so that you can be well-informed when the time comes.

What happens if you embrace the Rot in Cult of the Lamb
To reach the point where you have to decide, you’ll need to clear most of the Woolhaven content. Once you return Sariel’s spirit to Woolhaven, you’ll have completed filling all the graves around Yngya. The first choice is to embrace the Rot.
If you choose to go for this outcome, you’ll gain Faith daily if there’s a Rotten Follower in your cult. Rotten followers are similar to normal ones, but they survive for longer periods. The number of Rotten followers you have doesn’t matter; having one is sufficient.
What happens if you purge the Rot in Cult of the Lamb
If you choose to go with this outcome, you’ll gain Faith whenever a Rotten follower gets killed.
There’s no wrong decision, and you can continue your playthrough irrespective of whether you embrace or purge the Rot. However, I personally went with embracing it for two simple reasons.
- Rotten followers don’t consume any resources, which is extremely useful. If they die, you get Rotburn, which is immensely helpful to keep your base warm during the winters.
- Rotten followers are a core part of the new Woolhaven DLC. Lore-wise, keeping them alive made sense to me. Garnering sufficient Faith at the endgame stage has never been an issue, either in the base version or in the expansion.
