Like in any good Mario spinoff, you can play a variety of beloved characters in Mario Tennis Fever. That’s right: Every one from Princess Peach to Petey Piranha to Waluigi (and even his baby version!) are taking the court to put their tennis skills to the test.
There’s a total of 38 characters in Mario Tennis Fever, not including color variations of certain characters. Each character brings something a little different to the table, too. Some are faster, while others have more power behind their hits. Maybe you want a character who can put a little more spin on the ball, or maybe you’d rather have an all-rounder. Whatever your preferences are, there’s a character in the game for you.
Unfortunately for players, not all of the characters are available at the start of your tennis career. Just like with the game’s many rackets, some require you to play a certain number of matches, while others require you to complete challenges like winning tournaments before they’ll join your roster.

PlayStation State of Play – Feb. 2026 announcements
Kena: Scars of Kosmora announcement trailer
Ember Lab kicked off the show with its return and the first look at the sequel to the wonderful Kena: Bridge of Spirits. It’s coming to PS5 and PC this year, and it’s looking absolutely gorgeous. Check out the first game while you can before this sequel hits.
Ghost of Yotei: Legends announcement
Can’t get enough Ghost of Yotei? Good, because this online co-op mode for one of last year’s best games is coming, and it looks real similar to the mode of the same name from Ghost of Tsushima. And it’s dropping in just a few weeks on March 10.
Death Stranding 2 on PC
Sam Porter Bridges’ emotional journey comes to PC, with ultrawide support, upscaling and frame generation, and all of the goodies you’d expect from the platform. It’s also coming next month on March 19.
4:LOOP gameplay and details
The co-op title from Bad Robot Games got a closer look, including a bunch of weird alien plants, robot enemies, and more for teams of four to take down in “endless, replayable chaos.” The game is in pre-beta, and players are being recruited now to help test the game in development.
Pragmata story trailer
Capcom’s upcoming third-person action title featuring a cute little AI girl that helps you hack enemies so you can defeat them got a heartfelt look at the bond between her and the main character, Hugh. It’s a little over two months away, dropping on April 24.
Resident Evil Requiem story trailer
We’re just two weeks away from the return of Leon S. Kennedy, and Capcom’s new look showcased some more gameplay, story details (including the confirmation of another returning character), and a serious ailment that the RE2, RE4, and RE6 hero is afflicted by. Is it Feb. 27 yet?!
Legacy of Kain: Defiance – Remastered announcement
A remaster of the 2003 title is coming on March 3.
Brigandine Abyss
A new entry in this RPG series is coming in 2026.
Dead or Alive 6: Last Round announcement
Another port/remaster, this classic fighting game series’ redux includes all of the DLC, along with an improved photo mode, and more. It’s coming to PS5 on June 26.
New Dead or Alive in development
The devs confirmed a new Dead or Alive game is now in active development
Control: Resonant gameplay trailer
The new sequel in the Control series shows that Remedy is always ready to try something new. This gameplay looks quite different from the first game, as this new title features a hack-and-slash style where you use melee attacks and abilities to fight oddities in New York City.
Crimson Moon announcement trailer
Soulslike gameplay and heavy metal music? Yeah, sure, why not. It looks like this game’s got some co-op aspects to it, too, as you play as a half human, half angel fighting all kinds of ugly monsters.
Beast of Reincarnation release date trailer
Game Freak’s soulslike featuring a girl and her dog in post-apocalyptic Japan seems more intriguing with each additional look. It’s coming out on Aug. 4 later this year.
Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition announcement
Rayman is back in this ‘digital museum” that includes five playable versions of the original game, enhanced with new options. It’s coming to PS5 digitally tomorrow, and physical editions drop on June 26.

Coming Feb. 19, this precursor to the emotional, beautiful Neva will showcase the bond between its characters before the events of the first game.
Yakoh: Shinobi Ops trailer
A unique-looking stealth action game featuring an overhead camera that won’t be out for a while as it’s due in 2027.
Project Windless reveal
Based on a series of Korean novels called The Bird That Drinks Tears, this intense-looking title with some gory imagery and a gnarly voiceover to go with it, features a buff chicken protagonist dual-wielding swords and slicing through hordes of enemies Dynasty Warriors-style. It looks ridiculous in the best way.
Star Wars: Galactic racer gameplay trailer
Now THIS is pod-racing! And all sorts of other racing, too. It’s like if Gran Turismo was in space. And it’s launching in 2026.
007: First Light story trailer
James Bond’s origins from Hitman devs is just a few months away now, and this new trailer showed off some of the storyline that 007 fans can expect from it. It’s looking a bit like a playable Bond film.
Metal Gear Solid: Legacy Collection Vol. 2 announcement trailer
Snake is back! Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker are getting the remaster treatment now. This is huge for MGS4, which has only ever been available for PS3 until now…and it’s within reach, coming out on Aug. 27 this year. And to boot, the Master Collection Vol. 1 will be getting some upgrades to its graphics. Big win for MGS fans.
CastleVania: Belmont’s Curse announcement trailer
Whoa, Konami brought the heat. CastleVania is also returning in this new 2D game starring Trevor Belmont, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the iconic franchise, and it’s coming later this year.
Silent Hill: Townfall reveal trailer
