Nioh 3 has plenty of bosses for you to take down, and there are three hidden/secret ones if you’re not satisfied.
The secret bosses are genuinely tough to find. If you simply complete the main and side quests, you won’t encounter them. You’ll also need to clear a bit of early-game content before you can start encountering these demons.
This guide will provide you with all the required information for taking down the hidden bosses in Nioh 3.

There are three secret bosses in Nioh 3.
- Demon of Pride
- Demon of Envy
- Demon of Obsession
Demon of Pride
The Demon of Pride is the first secret boss you can find, and you’ll need to reach the Heian period (second era). Complete the Sacred Mountain Defiled quest as well.
Once you have cleared these requirements, reach the Sengan Waterfall shrine in the Ilinoya region. Go down to the river and move towards the waterfall located in the north. Once you reach the waterfall, use your Spirit Vein mechanic to go up.
There’s a shadow you can find at this spot. Go near him, and it will commence the Demon of Pride boss battle. Once you defeat the boss, you will unlock Kunimatsu’s Pride achievement and more loot.
Demon of Envy
To locate the second boss, you’ll also need to reach the Heian Period and complete the Sacred Mountain Defiled quest. Once done, go to the Anneibo Temple Shrine, situated in Hachijo. From there, head east until you find a watchtower. Take the ladders to reach the top, and then sprint towards the western edge.
Jump across to the next location and get down to find the Demon of Envy. Completing the battle unlocks Kunimatsu’s Envy achievement and more loot.
Demon of Obsession
You’ll need the most amount of time to reach this secret boss, as he’s located at the Nijo Castle region. You’ll first need to reach the Bakumatsu period and complete the Those Left Behind quest. Then, reach the Maruta Ruins shrine, and go south to where the Lesser Crucible is situated.
To unlock the path, cleanse the Crucible. You’ll come across a gap; use the log to cross it before going past the wooden bridge. After arriving at the enemy base, exit through the northern section until you reach a bamboo forest.
Go northwest, and you’ll find a shadow. Keep following the shadow to reach the Abandoned Temple Outskirts shrine. Then, cross the bridge and go close to the shadow to begin the Demon of Obsession boss battle. Completing it unlocks the Kunimatsu’s Obsession achievement and more loot.
