Phasmophobia’s first crossover is nearly here, as the Alan Wake event is officially set to debut quite soon. Since the ghost hunting game has never done anything like this before, you may be eager to dive in and start exploring as soon as possible, which means you need to know when this update will be released.

Fresh events are always an exciting time in Phasmophobia, as they bring lots of new mechanics to play with and lots of prizes to earn. A crossover version of an already beloved feature is an especially enticing prospect, so if you want to make sure you’re ready to start investigating when the update goes live, here’s the exact time and date when the Phasmophobia Alan Wake event update will be released.

Phasmophobia Alan Wake event update release date and time

The Alan Wake crossover event officially arrives in Phasmophobia on May 12. An official release time hasn’t been shared, and likely won’t be ahead of release, but Phasmophobia sticks to a fairly reliable and consistent update launch schedule. As long as there are no unexpected delays, this update should be released at 7am CT, which has been the launch time of all past updates that were released on schedule.

Alan Wake event update features in Phasmophobia

Phasmophobia’s Alan Wake event is the first-ever crossover we’ve ever gotten, so much of what this update will entail is a mystery since we’ve never seen anything like it before. We do know a bit about the overall theme and functionality, but most of the exact details will likely remain under wraps until the event debuts.

A new presence will be haunting familiar locations in this event, perhaps similar to how seasonal ghosts like Krampus and the Forest Spirit work in the annual Winter’s Jest and Cursed Hollow event. The Dark Place, a key supernatural location that’s present throughout the Alan Wake franchise, will also bleed over into Phasmophobia, creating a twisted new reality that merges the two terrifying trials present in both games.

Similar to other events, the Alan Wake crossover will be limited time and feature an array of exclusive prizes. While most other events return on an annual basis, granting multiple opportunities to earn rewards, this one has been described as a one-off event, so there’s a likelihood it’ll only be around once and never come back. This means you’ll want to ensure you get all available rewards before it concludes to make sure you don’t miss out. Special events typically last at least a month or so, which means this one likely will too, although the duration hasn’t been officially revealed just yet.

While you wait for the Alan Wake event to arrive, there’s plenty to keep you busy. The player character update launched not too long ago, and it’s got a lot to explore. You may want to learn how to use the watch, how to unlock new character cosmetics, and how to change your character. If you’re more interested in the lore side of things, you may also consider checking out all player character backstories, as these may come into play with the eventual release of the Phasmophobia movie.

If your Discord messages are struggling to send or you’re having general problems with the app, you’re not alone.

The chat app has been suffering issues for several hours now, but Discord said on Twitter/X that it was aware of the issues and is working on it. It’s already seeing some positive signs on my end, which is sad, because the server issues made me realize how much I’m on the damn app.

Granted, I use Discord for both work and personal reasons (talking to my significant other and friends), so I’m on it a lot. But still, the feeling I just got made me shudder to think about looking at my screentime details on my iPhone. I think I’m going to be touching some significant grass this weekend.

Discord’s DownDetector page started showing an influx of error reports at around 2pm CT, and it appears the issues are API-related. But slowly and surely, the errors are subsiding and messages are starting to come through again.

Your mileage may vary, as it’s still pretty spotty for me, but worry not. You should be able to hop on a voice call with friends to play games or watch movies tonight. Or you could be like me and leave the cave for once.

This is a breaking news story. It’s being written in real time.
