The fun movie news has been flowing out of CinemaCon all week, and one of the latest drops this morning is of particular interest to gamers.
The upcoming Street Fighter movie, due to release later this year on Oct. 16, got a new trailer this morning, and it’s truly one to behold… for a variety of reasons. I’ll leave you to watch it first and form your own opinion here:
So, yeah. It looks quite silly, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing by any stretch. If it took itself too seriously, it would probably come off as cringy, but if you embrace the cringe itself with lame dialogue and mediocre acting, then we may have a fun adaptation.
“Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury,” the official synopsis says. “But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER!”
The trailer is full of many callbacks to the games, like Ken beating up a car, along with Akuma and Ryu both powering up their fireballs. And how about Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson with that Balrog hairstyle? Yikes. But one of my favorite moments is when Cammy makes mention of Chun-Li’s infamous thick thighs. “I don’t see what the big deal is,” she remarks, likely poking fun at fans who lost their shit when Liang’s portrayal and costume revealed she was wearing pants.
The big reveal at the end is a couple more stunning abominations: Jason Momoa’s Blanka, which looks to be heavily CGI as opposed to more practical. And then, of course, we have WWE star Cody Rhodes’ acting skills along with his god-awful (although accurate) Guile haircut. It’s so bad it’s great.
I’ll likely see this movie in theaters just for the fun of it when it launches later this year, and I’ll have fun, because I’m expecting it to be a silly, poorly acted mess. Anything else would be a pleasant surprise, but I do like a hokey shitshow almost as much as a good film.
I would hope, at least, that this version will be better than several previous disastrous attempts at bringing this iconic fighting game franchise to the silver screen. We shall see.

The People of Tortuga is one of several factions in Windrose, and finding the buyer can be a headscratcher. You might think that you’ll find them in Tortuga. That’s where the problem is: they’re at a different location.
This guide will help you find the People of Tortuga faction so that you can find the buyer and interact with him.
How to find the Tortuga faction in Windrose
Since the map of Windrose is procedurally generated, sharing the location of the People of Tortuga faction might not workout for you. Instead, here’s how you can find the faction quite easily.
- Keep grinding the missions until you receive the Buccaneers quest.
- This is a faction quest that you can undertake at character level 3.
- The first task of the quest is to get 50 bags of gunpowder for the Buccaneers and deliver them to Henri Boucher.
- The second task is to deliver the shipment of tanned hides to Charlie Sharpe.
- Charlie Sharpe, incidentally, belongs to the People of Tortuga faction.
- If you open the map now, the quest location will highlight where Chalie Sharpe is located. This is the same place where the People of Tortuga Faction can be found.
Complete the second task of Buccaneers, and you’ll have found the location of the People of Tortuga Faction. This is the most consistent method of finding the faction. Typically, you’ll find them at a hideout slightly distant from Tortuga.
Once you find the hideout, you’ll also find the trader waiting for you at the same location. You can then proceed with your transactions. If you want to focus back on the Buccaneers’ quest, there will be one more task for you to complete.
