All factions in MENACE

Players fighting in Menace

Turn-based tactics title MENACE offers different factions that you’ll have to manage diplomatically to progress through the game.

Factions are entities or groups within the hostile planetary system. Different factions will provide you with new quests and objectives to complete, and you’ll also have to manage your relationship with them. Let’s quickly look at all the factions in MENACE.

Complete list of factions in MENACE

There are seven factions in MENACE, as outlined in the table below.

Faction How they Work
Alien Wildlife Alien Wildlife includes all the creatures you can find on the different planets in the Wayback System. The faction would typically request that you eradicate Alien infestations. Enemies will mostly comprise melee units, but there are a few exceptions, like the Alien Bombardier. Alien Wildlife is pretty easy to manage, and the missions aren’t that difficult.
Menace Menace represents one of the most powerful threats in the game. They include Drones, Shamblers, and more. The enemies were once humans who mutated into horrific creatures. Unlike Alien Wildlife, Menace units will attack from both close and long range. Missions involving them will be some of the hardest to complete.
Pirates Pirates represent looters and raiders who aim to rob and loot as much as possible. While the units are tricky to handle, their weapons will usually depend on RNG. Pirate units are also mobile, thanks to the vehicles they use. Expect explosive threats as they use rocket launchers.
Rogue Army Rogue Army includes enemy soldiers from different planets who are essentially mercenaries. They have significantly better equipment and gear compared to the Pirates. Expect to find army-standard weapons and vehicles when you go up against them.
Dice of the Gods This faction includes stealthy enemies who don’t always fight head-on. They’re native to the Dice planet, and you’ll likely find plenty of criminals when you take up a mission against them.
The Backbone The Backbone is a mysterious planet that includes mutated humanoids. They’re extremely capable at short and long-range damage. I prefer not accepting too many requests from this faction, as the missions tend to be pretty dangerous.
Zayn-Beecher Corporation This is one of the richest factions in the entire Wayback planet system. So far, this faction has offered me the highest number of requests, and completing the missions feels extremely rewarding. Ideally, you’ll want to keep a very good relationship with this specific faction.

How do factions work in MENACE

Factions will provide you with different requests that you can either accept or reject. When you accept and complete a mission successfully, your relationship will improve. You get better rewards and upgrades as your relationship grows.

However, appeasing one faction might displease another. While this doesn’t matter much in the early game, it will become important in the late game. Ideally, you’ll want to keep friendly relationships with as many factions as possible.

ARC Raiders PvE

ARC Raiders could be answering the calls for one of the most-requested additions to the game since launch, and even before it, in a new limited time mode this week.

Embark Studios announced the new event today, called Shared Watch, although details are scant so far. The video the company used to tease it, though, sure sounds like players will be teaming up together, and not against each other, in the fight against ARC.

“You watch my back, I’ll watch yours – that’s how Speranza keeps ticking,” the company said. “Join your fellow Raiders in celebrating the Shared Watch; team up with strangers, turn your barrels on the machines, and earn rewards in the process.”

And that’s all there is to go on, for now, other than some potential new baseball helmet-themed gear teased in the key art. If it truly is a PvE-only experience, then many players will be thrilled to try it out. ARC Raiders players have been asking for something like this for a while, and if it’s here, it should be a big hit.

The game’s usage of an “aggression-based matchmaking” system means a PvE experience is entirely possible to foster, but this being a true co-op experience where players can team up with others to fight against the AI ARC enemies may be a fun addition to the game’s existing style.

Shared Watch is scheduled to run from Feb. 10 to 24, so it’s for a limited time for now. But, anything can change, and if the mode proves as popular as it has the potential to, then Embark may have no choice but to consider a more permanent solution.

For now, though, players can queue up when the event goes live and see what it has to offer in the early morning hours tomorrow.
