The Division 2, for large parts, isn’t very challenging if you’re an endgame player, but the new Realism mode will certainly test your skills.
This special mode will be available from now till the end of March as part of the Anniversary season. This mode is vastly different from the traditional Division experience. This guide will help you figure out all you need to know about the mode if you’re curious to try it out.
The Division 2 Realism mode explained
Just like its name suggests, the Realism mode is a hyper-realistic version of the The Division 2 experience. For starters, the TTK (time to kill) is rapidly low, but there’s a twist over there as well. For starters, there’s no HUD. There’s no additional info, hit markers, or any available features that might aid your aim.
Naturally, you’ll have to be precise with your shots. You can target the limbs, but it won’t be effective. Headshots, on the other hand, are the best way to take down enemies. However, it won’t be easy to land them accurately. Moreover, you’ll need to be precise with your shots as ammo will be scarce. You’ll need to secure extra ammunition from dead enemies.
You’ll also need to pay attention to getting hit by the enemy. Your armor will protect you, but to a limited extent. Using heavier gear will also slow you down. You can switch to a lighter armor, but that makes you more susceptible to taking damage.
The Realism mode will only be available for the Warlords of New York expansion. If you’re a veteran of the game, you can try playing the campaign once again in a different manner. If you’re a new player, you can try to complete the full expansion for absolutely free of cost. The Warlords of New York expansion will be available to all for free as part of the Anniversary season.
I am not a big fan of the mode, which primarily has to do with my limited shooting skills. If you love PvP and quicker action, the Realism mode will feel fun and exciting. It also provides a different kind of Division experience, which feels like a welcome change. Of course, the Realism mode is just the start of things as there’s plenty more to come to The Division 2 later this year.
