Permafrost god rolls and how to get them in Destiny 2

The Permafrost tube grenade launcher, as seen from collections.

Permafrost may live up to its name: the Destiny 2 limited-time grenade launcher can cover the field with ice, and its god roll makes it quite devastating, even if it’s not an Area Denial Frame like Lost Signal.

As a Wave Frame, Permafrost can clear enemies quickly, and its perk pool has a few powerful add-ons that will make this weapon even better. The catch is, Permafrost is only available during the Dawning, so grab this before the event ends, just in case it’s not another Yeartide Apex situation. As you chase this grenade launcher, odds are you’ll also snag good copies of Mistral Lift and Fimbulwinter Stitch, which also come with a few treats of their own.

Here are our god rolls for Permafrost in Destiny 2, based on data from d2foundry.gg.

Permafrost PvE god roll in Destiny 2

  • Barrel: Volatile Launch or Linear Compensator
  • Mag: High-Velocity Rounds
  • First perk: Rimestealer, Overflow, Blast Distributor, or Demolitionist
  • Second perk: Crystalline Corpsebloom, Reaper’s Tithe, One For All, or Desperate Measures

The remastered New Pacific Epitaph in Rite of the Nine can only dream of being what Permafrost became. This deadly Wave Frame grenade launcher boasts a stacked perk pool, but with one excellent Stasis synergy that you can use regardless of subclass: Rimestealer and Crystalline Corpsebloom, which certainly features in our god roll.

There’s plenty to look at in Permafrost’s first perk. Rimestealer is our top choice because of the synergy, but it’s far from being the only viable option. In fact, this grenade launcher can bring utility in multiple ways.

Blast Distributor and Demolitionist can fuel grenade builds by boosting your Grenade stat or by giving you grenade energy, respectively. The latter is your best bet if your stat is already high enough, though. Overflow just gives you more shots on the mag, meaning fewer reloads.

Attrition Orbs can create orbs of power to fuel other aspects in your kit, such as Surges, Fonts, Kickstart mods, Smoke Jumper set bonuses, and more. Its uptime may not be the best if you’re not hitting groups of enemies, though.

Permafrost’s rich fourth column boasts Crystalline Corpsebloom at the top, and it may be one of the most effective add-clear weapons to use this perk. It’s easy to get uptime on it since it can take down multiple targets, and with Rimestealer, Permafrost gives you extra damage reduction in the form of Frost Armor even if you’re not using Stasis. The combination is too good to pass up on, even if the Stasis crystals may get in the way.

Our other picks are for boosting damage: Reaper’s Tithe grants you a buff based on the number of simultaneous kills. Desperate Measures bumps its damage upon taking down an enemy, with a bigger benefit from ability kills. And One For All does so by hitting three targets, which is another rather simple trigger.

How to get Permafrost in Destiny 2

Permafrost can drop from any source of Dawning gear. This includes opening A Gift In Return, grabbing an event-exclusive end-of-mission reward in a given Portal activity, or buying Dawning Engrams from either Eva Levante or the event store. To get the most out of the event, grab all applicable upgrades from Eva’s inventory to generate more Dawning Spirit, which you can turn into event rewards.

ARK Survival Ascended Lost Colony promo image

ARK Survival Ascended‘s Lost Colony DLC has finally been released after a launch delay, and it brings a host of new creatures.

While the list of prehistoric creatures was already vast in the base game, Lost Colony adds to them. This guide will list all the new creatures along with their brief in-game descriptions. As always, I will add to this guide if I come across new names that are part of the DLC but not mentioned here.

Complete list of Lost Colony DLC creatures in ARK Survival Ascended

The theme of the Lost Colony DLC is pretty same as that of the base game. Some of the new creatures are straight from the books of history. Others are mutated monsters that are byproducts of the misuse of technology.

NamesDescription
AureliaxA brand new flying creature, you can use the Aureliax to destroy enemies with gravity effects.
CryolophosaurusDeals damage via narcotic sludge, but it can also buff your allies.
DesmodusThe Desmodus uses echolocation to target and damage enemies, and it can be a great option in areas where visibility is low.
GigadesmodusThis massive creature is an absolute tank and also allows you to place a mobile command center on its back. This is arguably one of the best creatures to find in the Lost Colony expansion.
GloonThe strange creature fires a laser, and it can make other creatures go into a frenzy and lose self-control.
GargoylesMythical creatures that are made of stone, and they can be extremely dangerous if you aren’t careful.
MalwynThis is the aggro version of the Veilwuyn, and offers multiple forms of attacks to take down enemies.
NeophytesAnother massive bat-type creature that can absorb a great deal of enemy damage before feeling the effects.
OssidonA giant primate that throws sludge balls at enemies. It can deal damage from range.
RevenantsThese are corrupted remnants of Thralls and dinosaurs that have been corrupted by the liquid Edmundium.
SolwynSimilar to Malwyn, it can use ice for different reasons, and can also be used as a mount.
VeilwynAn Arctic Fox that can teleport (has some other handy uses as well).

Overall, I really love the different creatures that are part of the Lost Colony DLC. Vielwyn is a curious creature that comes in two other forms: Solwyn and Malwyn. There might be more forms that I haven’t discovered yet.

I have always loved gigantic creatures, and it doesn’t get any better than the Gigadesmodus, which is absolutely massive. Taming the beast is a challenge in every sense, and I will have a guide to help you do the same. While I would have loved for the DLC to have more creatures, the different types make up for the lack in quantity.
