Familiars play a key role in Witchspire as you can use your companions to help you out in a battle. Some of them can also perform other roles to help you on your adventures. Overall, they’re extremely useful, so let’s find out how you can get more of them.

How to get more Familiars in Witchspire

Your first Familiar will be provided to you in the very beginning of your adventure. There are four of them to pick from:

Bril
Fien
Locto
Quol

You can pick any that you like. They won’t make much of a difference, and you’ll find other Familiars on your journey. In fact, you can have a maximum of three Familiars equipped at any given time.

You’ll meet new creatures when exploring the world of Witchspire. Some of them seem more common in specific areas, so you should be able to target specific Familiars if you’d like.

To get a companion, you’ll first need to kill a creature. You’ll then get the chance to bond with its spirit. If you manage to successfully bond with it, you’ll find it in your inventory. If that doesn’t happen, you’ll be unable to add it to your collection.

How to use a Familiar in Witchspire

As I said, you can have up to three Familiars equipped at any given time. However, you can have at most one of them active. Go to the nearest Hearth and press the Tab button. Move the Familiars from your inventory to the dedicated slots, and that’s all. One of the three will be active, with the other two in their slots. You can switch between all equipped options with the C button in the default layout.

You can find plenty of different creatures. I am just a few hours in, and there are already various ones that I have added to my inventory. You can always use an Incense to raise the odds in your favor. Incense can be crafted, or you can also find them from chests and boss drops.

Familiars are of four different types in the current version of the game.

Common
Rare
Epic
Legendary

The higher the rarity, the fewer the chances for you to catch them. That said, the rarer Familiars tend to have better passive abilities. Moreover, Familiars can also have alternate color patterns if they’re either Celestial or Shifties.
