How to use the Walkie-Talkie in R.E.P.O.

The Walkie-Talkies back to back in REPO Truck

Splitting up in a horror movie is a recipe for disaster and R.E.P.O. knows only the bravest fools would try it. With proximity chat providing a semblance of comfort that may get you killed at the worst moments, the Walkie-Talkie may provide solace in these trying times.

The Walkie-Talkie, just one small addition to R.E.P.O.‘s Cosmetics Update, offers a lifeline if you ever find yourself in trouble. Similar to designated monitor person in Lethal Company, there’s now a means of communicating outside of staying frosty and watching your semibot’s six at all times while proximity chat calls monsters to your doorstep.

Gather Valuables alone, maneuver large objects together, and manage the unthinkable—splitting up. Here’s how the Walkie-Talkie works in R.E.P.O.

R.E.P.O. Walkie-Talkie guide: How does this item work?

Costing an average of $25K at the Service Station (seemingly rarer spawn than other items), the Walkie-Talkie is a sure-fire way to keep track of your team’s whereabouts. Each pack has two Walkie-Talkies inside, letting you nab two for one, making it a must-buy for duos and full lobbies where splitting up becomes inevitable. To talk, you must equip it from the hotbar and hold it out in front of you. The antennae on the Walkie will light up green when active. Use “E” to speak and reach whoever’s on the other side.

Audio replaced by an adorable voice, anyone communicating through the Walkie-Talkie will have a higher register. What’s interesting about this item is that it has two functions: telephone and camera. The phone feature rings when stored in a semibot’s inventory every time a caller holding their Walkie presses “E.” Meanwhile, the camera and voice mode activates when the Walkie-Talkie is outside of the hotbar (e.g., placed on the floor or equipped by another player) upon pressing “E.” If no one answers the call or you’re playing solo, you can place the spare Walkie down and take control of it to look around.

In theory, this means you could place one of the Walkie-Talkies in a room adjacent to the Truck and use it to lure monsters towards it at the end of a round. This’ll break the predictable patrol pattern monsters execute after spawning at the Truck entrance as they slowly but surely move towards your location. This feature could replace the Death Head Battery Upgrade, providing a unique way to keep track of where monsters are while simultaneously keeping them in one place. You’d also be safe on the side where your body is as you’re talking directly through the Walkie. Items carry over if lost the round before, making it a safer option than leaving a fallen semibot behind.

The best part is that no charge is required. The Walkie-Talkies have infinite use, making it a no-brainer pick if a pack appears in the Service Station. Honestly, a bargain purchase if you ask me.

If your Discord messages are struggling to send or you’re having general problems with the app, you’re not alone.

The chat app has been suffering issues for several hours now, but Discord said on Twitter/X that it was aware of the issues and is working on it. It’s already seeing some positive signs on my end, which is sad, because the server issues made me realize how much I’m on the damn app.

Granted, I use Discord for both work and personal reasons (talking to my significant other and friends), so I’m on it a lot. But still, the feeling I just got made me shudder to think about looking at my screentime details on my iPhone. I think I’m going to be touching some significant grass this weekend.

Discord’s DownDetector page started showing an influx of error reports at around 2pm CT, and it appears the issues are API-related. But slowly and surely, the errors are subsiding and messages are starting to come through again.

Your mileage may vary, as it’s still pretty spotty for me, but worry not. You should be able to hop on a voice call with friends to play games or watch movies tonight. Or you could be like me and leave the cave for once.

This is a breaking news story. It’s being written in real time.
