Kratos voice actor gives some hope for fans of ‘adult’ mini-games in upcoming God of War remakes

God of War 3 remaster Poseidon fight

The original God of War trilogy being remade was one of the big announcements from a State of Play presentation this year.

The first three games being remade from the ground up by Santa Monica Studio means many iconic scenes are being recreated or reimagined, like countless boss battles, or the moment that made Kratos the angry man he is when he was tricked into committing the unthinkable.

But all anyone seems to wonder about is whether or not the series’s sex mini-games will be included this time around, given how times have changed. For context, throughout the series and its first three releases from 2005 to 2010, Kratos sometimes found himself in the presence of some lovely ladies, and the player would be prompted to press some QTE buttons while the Spartan “performed” off-screen as sultry sound effects played and the screen shook.

At a recent panel during a convention, original Kratos voice actor (returning for the remakes) TC Carson had some potential good news for gamers who are looking for the series to retain its sexual identity and “charm.” When asked whether or not the sequels would include them, Carson had a laugh.

“You know what, all you dudes, all you men…I think so,” he said in a TikTok posted by IGN. And when the host of the panel joked that it was confirmation, he reiterated, “I think so.” So that’s all we have to go on, for now.

The most gratuitous and near-pornographic sex scene from God of War 3 (seen in this YouTube video) happens when Kratos enters the chambers of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love. And while there wasn’t much love found in that room, there was quite a bit of lust. Aphrodite, opining about how long it’s been since a man visited her chambers, requests his “services” in return for passage to his next objective. And so he obliges.

Two women with their breasts fully bare watch as Kratos and Aphrodite do the deed off-screen and out of view. Aphrodite moans in delight as the player presses on-screen button prompts in one of the more memorable QTE’s in history. Even back then, though, it was pretty tongue-in-cheek (tongue-in-somewhere, to be sure).

“This is definitely for mature audiences only!” one of the buxom women says. “Parents should not let their children watch this,” says the other. When done, the women are so inspired by the gods that they perform their own QTE’s, again off-screen. Kratos is then rewarded with a wealth of red orbs and is allowed to proceed towards his objective.

Gratuitous? Yes. But is it totally out of character? Not really. Have you ever read Greek mythology? Sex was everywhere and involved in everything. The gods would leave Olympus to take on human (or even animal) forms and commit all sorts of sexual acts with humans. And that’s how we ended up with demigods. Sex sells, and it was up for sale everywhere in ancient Greece, apparently.

I would be a bit put off if the remakes removed these scenes completely, but I don’t think I would mind all that much if they were tweaked a bit. Let’s hope Carson is right and that they remain in the remakes in at least some capacity, for the sake of being faithful to the original games…even if no one in the mythos was faithful to their own spouses.

What are your thoughts on the sex mini-games in the God of War remakes? Are you in, or are you out?

New Edinburgh in Frostpunk 2

Things will be heating up in the summer in Frostpunk 2 with Breach of Trust DLC coming on PC and consoles. So far, the frost has been mankind’s greatest enemy as we have all rushed to keep our homes warm.

The Breach of Trust DLC will completely change the battle, as you now have to outlast an impending volcano.

Frostpunk 2 Breach of Trust DLC features

The heart of your settlement is your Generator, which keeps everything warm. However, overuse of the resource has now created ruptures in the ground that have resulted in the volcano emerging as the biggest threat. With people in panic, you’ll have to take charge as the First Citizen to steady the ship.

While managing the lava is one part of the job, you’ll also need to keep your citizens’ needs in mind. Public approval is key if you don’t want to meet the fate of your predecessor. A Vote of Trust system will be operational throughout the scenario, which will decide just how well you’re doing the job.

Just like the frost, the volcano has its own set of environmental hazards. You’ll need to survive nights when lava will pour out along with tremors in the ground. How you interact and behave in the scenarios will have a key impact on deciding the outcome. However, you’ll not be alone since you can take the diplomatic route with other colonies to aid your cause (or destroy them if you want).

Additionally, the DLC will also offer two scenario-based maps, new buildings/infrastructure, and new laws that you’ll need to keep in mind when making decisions. There will also be new factions that will either be with or against you.

Frostpunk 2 Breach of Trust DLC release date

Breach of Trust releases globally on June 23 across all platforms. It’s currently available in closed playtest, and willing players can sign-up via Steam (available only for PC). It will be interesting to find out how the DLC will be priced and if it will be able to outdo Fractured Utopias, which is currently having a discount on Steam.
